VBR offers equal quality but uses less space than CBR. There is a whole thread on ripping MP3s. I think GTO started it.

Quite a few systems including some HUs have issues with VBR. CBR is safer if MP3 is going to be played on things other than PC.

Glad you're enjoying your system. For the record, I didn't suggest that you buy a JBL head unit.
Let's keep that clear, that's not what I do.

Silverbyte, how much did you pay for it? Also, can you please indicate whether with/without bill & warranty. Thanks!

Default Re: JBL branded HU? EDIT: GT-X555 & 333 Confirmed!

Hi Sam,

I need some advice from you. I am likely to buy the GT-555 for my Alto LXI and wanted to know if the 555 plays songs in random within a folder of the CD/SD card/USB. See, my GT-333 does not randomly play songs within a folder of the USB/SD card. It only plays random songs across the folders. I would have preferred if the HU played songs within a folder (as well as across the folders) of the SD Card/USB/CD.

So please let me know if the 555 plays songs in random within a folder of the CD/SD card/USB. I quite like the audio quality of the JBL HU and hence, I am inclined to buy the GT-555 if it plays songs in random within a folder of the CD/SD card/USB, something that the GT-333 cannot do.

Thanks and awaiting your reply.

Default Re: GT-X333 - Pause by Remote?

Hi Sam,

While we are on suggestions, I too had one. GT-X333 does not have a "pause" button on its remote, which is proving to be quite inconvenient. Perhaps you could pass on the suggestion. I think it must be a fairly easy amendment to make.

If you want to have a conversation / attend a phone call (while parked), but don't want to miss out on the music (or having to rewind it), it's good to be able to use the pause function, but presently I have to use it on the HU itself.

Thanks...

Cheers,
R_S

We know Sam; you'd rather we take our significant others out for dinner with the money na?

Let see...I just got paid today so should I damp my car or buy flowers for my wife?

Buy flowers, since even if you put damping there will be other kinds of noise from the other source otherwise!

BTW, flowers cost 2 or 3 digits, damping 4 digits!!!

The GT-X555 and GT-X333 have the same software. They do the same things. Sorry.

Yup, there is an option in the "Menu" function for "Beep On/Off".

I, too, was super irritated by the beep. So it was the first thing I asked the installer guy.

Cheers,
