Default Re: GT-X333 owner's manual & official JBL India website?

I just bought the 333 last week. (4.5k in-store, though it is available for 3.75k online).

Will put up some more thoughts on it after i've used it for a while, but for now :
+ I like the audio quality and bass/mid/treb/loud controls
+ It looks better in real life than in does in most pictures
- Theres no way to have the clock displayed all the time (?)

Tell me what exactly you want info on, and i'll take a photo of that page and upload it.

Any idea what the largest SD card supported is?

Thanks,
R

Many congratulations, Rehaan!

I have already ordered the unit online. Hoping it reaches me soon for me to fiddle around & discover the features myself. Its just my habit to see the owner's manual online to check the features prior to ordering such electronic stuff online

@Sam - Are SDHC cards supported? The manual says SD/MMC, so i'm guessing not...?

I have the Same HU - It supports my 4 GB & 8 GB pen drive no problems at all,
I suggest you should check if the Pen drive has any Virus may solve the problem.

If the pen drive is ok, & it still dosn't work go back to the dealer,

i have had this HU for 5 months now , no problems as yet (fingers crossed)

please keep us updated on the solution,
Cheers !

I had also posted the same query some days back on this thread. Ya my HU also does not recognize 4 GB drive. I put a old 2 GB drive and the problem was solved. I was assuming that the 4 GB drive had gone Kaput..but now as other users are reporting the same issue, i suspect some bug in the HU..!

Rehaan you said it!
Regarding the unit supporting SDHC cards I have not tried that natively on the unit. However, i have played music from SDHC via an SD adapter.

The process was hassle free. I got the unit delivered at home. The total cost included the postage fee as well. Will write a few lines on the buying experience & installation later.

Gurus, am facing a hitch with the retention of the settings of JBL GT-X333. The summary is:
  • When the ignition is completely switched off for a relatively longer time (say a minute or so) the EQ settings like Bass & Treble levels are reset
  • However, if the ignition is completely off (key removed too) & then turned on say after about 5 seconds the audio adustments are retained
I hope (?) the connection was made in the following fashion:
Name: Wiring.JPG
Views: 1310
Size: 41.1 KB

If my hope is positive, can someone please advise the likely cause & the resolution of the problem.

On the other hand, if am hoping in vain (Red directly connected to battery & Yellow via ignition switch), can someone please advise:
  1. Why will the HU not function even with ignition being off & key removed? Or will the HU not function until it receives power via the yellow wire too?
  2. Why the settings are retained for a brief period of time (say 5s) then? I peeked inside the JBL unit & couldn't see any big or jumbo sized capacitor that can retain charge for as long as 5s provided the unit requires a decent amount of power to retain the settings (i may be wrong if the power requirement is quite insignificant).

vidyasagar, I can confirm the unit recognises & plays music off a 8 GB SDHC card.

@abk, have you checked the wiring and verified if it is done correctly?

1. If the wires are reversed, i.e. Yellow to ACC, and Red to Battery, it will either not switch off at all or lose settings since the (constant) Battery connection is what retains settings, and the ACC is used to control ON/OFF of the HU

2. If only the Red wire (ACC) is connected correctly, the set will switch ON and OFF correctly, but will not retain settings

3. If only the Yellow wire (Battery) is connected correctly, it will never switch ON (it needs ACC leading edge to switch ON, respectively trailing edge to switch OFF) - not possible in your case

I must admit my description of the likely scenario is not very clear, but in any case check the wiring thoroughly before inferring that the HU is at fault. One doesn't need a large capacitor as you surmised, since the control chip does not draw too much power and can retain info for 10's of seconds when power line goes down (Vcc goes below permissible).

In case wiring is proper, you will need a visit to the service center to check further.

Checked out the GT-X555, it looks nice and neat. nothing cluttered yet elegant.
I liked it

I drive a Dzire VDi, which has/had crappy speakers. I have changed front/rear speakers to JBL speakers. Now its time for the stock HU to be changed. Question is I am not looking for any installations of Amp's or Sub's. I was quoted 6000 with B&W of 2 years for 555.

Is it worth going in for, or any alternatives exists?

Folks from Bangalore, could you direct me to a shop where I can get 333 at 3k? Last I heard from a neighbourhood shop was 4.5k.
