Good stuff man.
Just a question.
Isn't 50 w to each side (components) and 150 odd W to the sub slightly less??
Or are Powerbass amplifiers under-rated????
Would love to know about them. How does she sound?? Meets your expecations???
If it's Ramie, I am quite sure it does. He does a very good job, always.

Good one Raj, thanks for bringing this up.

Quick question:-

OE system doesn't comes with separate sub-woofer settings, how are you managing this?? How does she sound with OE system?? Why not going for an audio upgrade(read - head unit)??

Nice install raj! Illusion components are little sharp out of the box but after 30-40 hrs of run-in they sound nice. The mid-bass kick is impressive.

@camchennai
My guess is that the front speaker-outs power the front channels of the amp and the rear speaker outs power both the rear speakers and the sub-woofer.

So if the system is tuned by keeping the fader at 33% front, then by moving the fader back to 0 will increase the volume of the sub and the rear coaxials without decreasing the front volume. This is just a guess though, Ramie might have installed it in an even more innovative manner.

Hi frank, very honestly, I am a newbie & I have no idea about these technical aspects.

But I would like to tell you that I have never been a fan of loud & hard pumping bass. I prefer a mild but tight kick & that is what my current setup delivers. So yes, it is meeting my expectations.

Since OE head unit does not come with seperate sub settings, a bass control knob has been installed on the dash.

My special requirement to Ramie for this upgrade was that do whatever you want, but dont touch the stock HU as i dint want to sacrifice the Blue&Me & steering audio controls.

Great job Ramie (along with your signature neons!)

How are 'Powerbass amplifiers'? Which parent brand do they belong to?

Also, what's the exact purpose of 'Scosche High to low coverter : SLC-4'? Is it to retain the stock HU?

congrats Raj. Its an amazing set up and combine it with Rammie's expertise and it outstands.

hey are the wires cutoff from the HU. i mean the OE speaker wires are cut off and connected to the Scosche LOC?

the illusions are very good compos. wait for around 3-4 days. and then again retune your system from rammie.

the ground zero sub give a real good punch, but not an irritating ones. it gives a nice dhud which complements to the vocals from front.

congrats. hey and what about damping?

This is excellent piece of planning and installation. I hope you should be happy with the performance now.

I also upgraded the ICE in my Punto but only with adding a 4 channel Amp and front components.

Raj ,

To start with i really liked the essential hardware pumped in
by the installer in your pintu. Also i must highlight the angel
of snaps taken give vivid details about the work done by the
installer. I have few suggestions and my taste of music also
matches to yours.

I was not a truehard core audiophile , but getting there eventually
but whatever i hear must be clear and be presented with the low
end made to sound punchy with the BASS kicking in.

Having said that , elsewhere in an independant automotive forum
a fellow punter upgraded the ICE and within a day had to revisit the installer as the rear end of the soundstage and few hardware felt
Jittery or Rattled, to his dismay the installer had suggested PUNTO are
so solidly built that they dont need DAMPING ! but that was correctly fixed
and the DAMPING was done Asap.

I would suggest dynamat extereme for it and visually i can learn that you have the 10 inch GZ sub& other hardware
at the back, which mean more care has to be taken for Damping her BOOTIE.

I am again preplexed , you opted for rear co-axials
why did the installer not allow you to have an option
of a 5.25 in version of it on the rear door ? Cost effective !

I mean why these 6* 9 coxials with a modified tray and wires hanging
undearneath , appeals less. no? I could very well say that the soundstage
you have there must have too much bass to overempower the vocals those
Illusions comp generate in the front compared to the rear.

Also did you check your HU's rear circuitary?? The new FIAT OEM hardware come with a BOSCH unit and i am not sure why that wiring harness of a blaupunkt was installed thereof?

Anyways it was pretty interesting to learn and snaps taken
complimented the install.

Drive safe

Infact, I was already informed that the car needs damping but my budget dint allow that. It will be done soon though.

The GZ sub is 12".

1) Rear co-axials are at ear level & so sound staging would be better compared to installing 5.25" down in the door.
2) Infact, the rear co-axials are more expensive than the 5.25 inchers.
3) Co-axials will be louder (to cope up with the bass) and also throw more thump.

The wires are neatly tucked away using U clamps. No wires can be seen from outside.

The bass can be tuned to your comfort. I have a bass control knob on the dash (pic not shown) & I can adjust the bass level to my preference.

Also, the amps have been tuned in such a way that the sub is not too loud or boomy, infact it is tight & perfect for the vocals.

My installer said it's the same Blaupunkt unit, but re-branded as Bosch.

thanks raj_5004 for the update.
Quick question though for all punto owners/fans, does the stock steering mounted controls work or could be made to work somehow with headunit upgrade. If not is there any specific build that might enable me in doing that .
-Any specific aftermarket workhouse in Hyderabad who could help me , fellow bhpians , any suggestions
