The real colour shows when the clear goes on...... its beautiful!!!

Again...the engine bay is the first to get the clear!!!!

The roof with exactly half laquered!! Note the difference!!

The C-pillar in its new found glory!!!

That's me doin some ogling.......!!!
The old surfaces would never reflect me ............ and now here we are!!!

Awesome color... that was a nice choice.. how many coats will be sprayed?? the more the better.. also i suggest you get the laquer coating done too.. the gloss after thatwill be unbeatable.. and as far as the boards are concerned for the inside door padding leave them in the original color.. dont paint them black.. after constant use the black will peel away and it will look bad..

For interior padding I agree with Godfather. Keep it as it is.

PS: You planning to get tinted film or V-Cool ? Because those panels might get crazily hot during summer.

BTW, how long have you been having this car ? I mean, was it bought as a new car and with you all these years ? Or bought recently as a used car ? How much did you pay for it ?
Asking because, for young guys today, the old M800 is like a relic of the past (one guy in this forum even called it a joker as in "however you change the face of a joker, it still remains a joker" - a very insensitive and ignorant remark). So, I find it surprising that a young guy like you has taken a fascination to this car. Also, its not like you are strapped for cash - am sure that you can afford the latest model - going by the amount you are pumping in for renovating this car.

I am passionate about the old M800. But then we bought it new in '85 and it was our first car and was with us for 20 years, with lots of good memories associated to it. I know how superior it is to the current crop of M800s. The moment indigenisation of the M800 happened, the drop in quality was there for all to see.

Hey Edmund, your Type-1 800 rocks

. Good choice of color and a well executed paint job. I know the feel when you are restoring an out of production automobile..... went through this for my RD350 a few years ago. I have been watching this space eagerly for photos of the painted car.

Please don't paint the interior padding, leave them as is or try and experiment plating\anodising them to hyper-black or powder-coating or maybe treat them with a flame (with a waste piece ofcourse) . What metal is this anyway?

Bought the car for myself on the 31st of December,2004. Used, however in beautiful condition! Paid 26K, from a software guy whose wife was not willing to part with it even though she had a santro all to herself!!!

Some people thrive in ignorance, they are eternally forgiven!!!

I remember reading that remark but i wasn't affected!! This car has some awe inspiring lines from the 80's, like the Ford Laser, the VW Golf and the Fiat Uno....to name a few!! You look around and all you see are the same monotonous cars...... i'm looking to make that difference!! Plus the qulaity of mass produced of today are nothing to write home about......So when you set the quality standards yourself, you're happier.......that's the way i chose!!

26K looks like a good deal. I sold mine on 28Nov04 (1 month before you bought it) for 40K. Yours is an 85 model, right ?

I still sometimes think of buying back that car.

But then, giving due attention to 2 cars could be tough.
