Had a couple of points :
1. I was told not to use higher grades for the NHC ..Specifically...Not sure if anyone uses it...

2. GTO: Your claculations are true if you use tha car of > 1500 KM/month....anything less with todays Petro (54 + in bangalore) may not yield much ...well that's apart from a better drive!!

3. If you travel outside the cities...how easy is it to get Higher Octave Fuels..

I have a similar query. I am actually one down using 87 Octane BP petrol.

Was wondering if using 91 Oct or 93 OCt wud help the Baleno.

Just read somewhere that higher Oct Petrol will not help engines with a compression ratio of 9:1 ( like the Baleno does)..

Honda Service strongly suggests not to use petrol with additives as they cause carbon deposits in the cylenders. They told me not to use petrol with additives on day one when I took delivery of my NHC.

i made a few calcualtions the other day i used unleaded before assuming the average to be same .... lets assume theres no increasei n fuel efficiency nor is there a drop
average:10
unleaded:49.19
speed:50.50

total loss:120ml
kms i lose : 1km

what do i gain: my car runs feels better .... ya and its worth it

Guys,
For an experiment( and for a good laugh), I decided to top my trusty Sunny up with Speed 97. The pump attendant thought my friend and I were mad!!!

But anyway, the bike didnt take as well as expected to it. It 'coughed' frequently, and engine response became inconsistent (but when it did happen, pickup was noticeably better).
So next time, I put in normal speed with a lil bit of oil, and she ran like a dream. guess two-strokes dont take well to high octane. Oh well......

Reehan has vouched for cars having compression ration of 9.0:1 or more. Swift has the compression ration of 9.0:1, hence going by what is said earlier in this thread Speed 93 can be used for Swift.

Why do you say that. GTO calculations show that there is a increase in mileage. Hence you get benefited irrespective of the kms driven

I have half tank of unleaded petrol. Can I top the tank with Speed 93 (expect results after it start run fully on it) or need to empty the tank and then fill up Speed 93.

This was great piece of info from GTO. You dont get this sort of info's and calculation from any part of the world in any means other than TEAM-BHP. Will try in my Swift and post the results

Heard there's new Shell station in Yeshwantpur. Dunno if they carry 93 octane.

I am aware of two more stations coming up - one on the Old Madras road (near NGEF) and the other on the ITPL road (just before the Hoody circle).
