Guys,

Another shocking fact about the Skoda 1.8T RS is that it shares the same chassis(sp?) as the Subaru WRX!!! the only difference is that over here in India it isnt a 4X4 (vRS *180HP) which is sold around the world which by the way has just recently gone out of production at the plant.

According to me this is one crazy platform for any enthusiast to mod on over here and makes the honda truly look like a "Family/Chauffer drivern car"

Read this thread 1.8T V/S Subaru WRX.
http://briskoda.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=617

A couple of quote's from the thread above
"Actually found the 1.8T's turbo punch more amusing than the one that is so very well massaged away in the new WRX. And that was driving an unchipped 150hp car."

"(Had to go with the Oettinger chip as it is the only one the Dutch Skoda importer will accept without revoking full warranty - company car, you see. Still, it adds 55-65bhp to the downtuned 150hp engine for roughly the same price you would pay for adding 25-35bhp to the 180hp RS engine. So it's actually pretty cheap!)"

We have a winner on our hands,
Satyam.

You are kidding right? The Octavia is based on the VW Golf chassis. As also the Audi A3.

Comparing an imported 4x4 RS with the Indian Accord makes no sense.

And where in the link has it been mentioned that the RS sports the WRX chassis? And please post an authorised link where all this is claimed by the company itself and not by some guy on a forum.

The Indian Accord is a family car, it just happens to be fast. And so is the RS.

Yes GTO I know it is built around the A3 but the vRS 4X4 is the same as the WRX, I will dig up the site where I read it and post it here.

Hi Shan2nu,

I have seen this been posted by people on the Forum but not by the company, I just felt I had to share the info that’s all please do take my comments with a grain of salt, will post the link when I find the thread where it was mentioned.

As for comparing the vRS 4X4 with the accord well that was not my intention at all but in fact I am comparing the RS 150HP FWD with the Accord and the possibilities of future mods that can be performed on both of them and RS 18T 150HP has better prospects to be modded which is contrary to what is mentioned in the thread by everyone.

Takecare,
Satyam

Found sites that say that the RS/VRS use the A3 platform for their chassis.

The Czech factory uses an extended version of the basic platform which is also used on the Audi TT, VW Beetle and Golf and the SEAT Leon.

<a href="http://xtramsn.co.nz/motoring/0,,6429-2151263,00.html" target="_blank">For the three people that don't know already, Skoda has been a part of the Volkswagen Group since 1990 and all models are based around VW/Audi platforms and powertrain components.

Maybe you should give this baby a look. It was a concept in 03, but if they can do it, so can we.

Afterall, we are talking about tuning possiblities, aren't we?

Accord for the track.

Haha Yes I agree it is awesome but little over the top dont you think so for us avrage modders(atleast for me, but would still LOVE to have one anytime) , on the other hand with the chip the 1.8T is playing in the territory of the V6 for cheap!!

Satyam.

PS: I just spoke to the dealers and will be booking my 1.8T Rider not the RS very soon.

Guys....the length to which a car can be tuned has really no limit! Maybe only your bank balance!

Lets remember, the topic at hand deals with the stock, Indian available RS and Accord, so lets stick with this subject!

Maybe we could start off a new topic for how easily a car can be modded, as it obviously seems to be a hot topic!

There is absolutely no way that the vRS 4x4 will share the chassis with a WRX. Think about it, VW has NOTHING to do with Subaru.

And it would be biting their own tongue...for Skoda. Cos wernt they in the rally championship too? Using a competitors platform? Impossible.

Yea, I dunno where that started! Skoda runing with a WRX platform! Maybe he meant just the 4X4 mechanicals are from the Scooby. Although even thats an incorrect statement!
