Is this restricted to cars only?
Max I've done is only about 205Kmph (about 130mph) in a buddies '93 Mustang GT. Not very exciting I must say! doing 140kmph here seems waaaay more fun (and faster too) lol.

If i can stray to bikes, I've maxed out my Katana on numerous occasions. Speedo was stuck at the 160mph (256Kmph) mark with the tach at it 12,000 redline. I think the speedo would've gone further if there were more numbers on the clock! But this was fun, as long as you stay within the "bubble" created by the fairing. Pop your head up at that speed and you may get blown off the bike if you don't hold on tight!

Another reason why bikes are just so much morefun than cars!

k i forgot to post mine oops..

Merc E230- 210 on speedo.. 4 lane high way

Merc E230- old model 190 on speedo, good ol NH

the Merc stand from rest in the fact that it will cruise at 160+ all night n still feel u are at 100kph.. no wonder i cant afford one right now (they cost so much maybe a better way to put it)... lol

Honda 1.3- 150 or 155 dont remember on speedo- not very good stretch but a 6 lane

Baleno Altura- just nudging 180 on speedo - excellent 6 lane

Ikon 1.6- nudging 160 on speedo.. excelent 6 lane sans a stupid moped who spoiled my fun had to slow down..

Esteem 95 model 165 on speedo (old car can mean more error) and yes had a good down hill to hit this on the level ground..

FYI am not a maniac managed these speeds, whenever i could manage some good deserted stretches of highway.. usually late nights, yup love those 10pm to 8am drives though people always advice me against it.. but i hate people n love to drive when others are asleep and listening to my music.. just kidding..

Dont think ill be the fastest for long but 238 Km/ph (Speedo) on the E240
The S class will have to wait till about 5000 Kms before i cross 180

Never thought of that. Interesting and scary to know.

My personal highest has been behind the wheel of a Mercedes 560SEL at an indicated 270km/h +. Where else but in Germany! I wasnt even 18 then.

260 is not too bad, however, its a pain when you're maxed out, and then 3 'busa's and an R1 fly by you like you're doing 60!

The bike was a '95 Suzuki GSX600 Katana with a yoshimura 4 into 1, stage 1 jet kit and K&N filter. Dyno'd at 80.1hp (up about 15hp from a stocker) at the rear wheel. waaaaay down on the 600's of today though, which put out about 92-98 hp at the wheel!

My personal best is 150km/h+ in my Contessa on the Mumbai - Pune Expressway. I stopped watching the speedo after that.

I've been in much faster cars but never gone faster.

190kph in a nissan almera (the car sucks btw) in SA.

In mumbai 160kph in sam's ikon 1.6 (which he doesnt know about )
140kph in my indica petrol, after that it was so sluggish that i got tired of pushing the accelarator.

I drove a bmw 318i and the corolla for pretty long distances but didnt go above 160. Too many speed traps in SA.
