Mahindra: 41.4%

From the last 4 years data, it looks like Escorts is rapidly losing marketshare while John Deere is gaining marketshare.



Other Interesting Tidbits Of M&M Info:

Maxximo Passenger van will be launched in the first quarter of this financial year, Rexton & Reva NXR in the third quarter and sub-4m verito in the fourth quarter.

Third quarter of this year I think. They are calling it COMPACT SUV in the presentation, which probably is the chotu Xylo. You know how Mahindra likes to call everything they make as "SUV" - they even say Bolero is the largest selling SUV in advertisements!

It [AL] has an oversized share of the market at 41.78 per cent, and, along with Tata, which has 41.94 per cent, rules the universe of buses in India.

Ha, as per this report TM has better market share than AL. I am not very sure about this.

M&M replaces Ashok Leyland as No. 2 commercial vehicle maker.

Consider the stats. M&M's April-February tally (including Navistar range as well as Maxximo, Gio, Genio and Bolero pick-up) stands at 1,67,588 units as per SIAM data. ALL's April-February sales, including the Dost LCV, stand at 1,00,592 units. Both do not include exports

Mahindra Navistar is the new no.2!!! However the overall sales of CVs fell 22% YOY. Big time recession it looks like.
Tata motors better look behind and start running harder, if they want to be no 1 here atleast.
With the CV market maturing towards bigger HCV (Multiaxle) AL doesnt seem to have the range or products to be in that segment, ruled by Prima and Navistar.
Bus segment wise, most of the completely built buses (low floor/AC) are ruled by Tata at the lower price end and Volvo at the upper segment. Almost airport lowfloor buses are Tata.

In the HCV segment, M&M is nowhere near to the giants (TATA & AL).
AL is testing it's JanBus which would hit the market soon and also they are the segment leaders in standard buses. Also AL is testing its new range of trucks which would compete with PRIMA series.
AL has launced it's 5 axle truck in 31T category which is expected to rule the market, while TATA has displayed similar model and may launch any time soon.
M&M is just a beginner in HCV segment and it may take a long time to catch up with giants.

Ashokleyland is only No.2 in M&HCV segment, it was never a No.2 commercial vehicle manufacturer. It has very recently entered the SCV segment where the Mahindra has a sizeable market share next to Tata. Even in SCV segment AL and Mahindra competes head to head only in 2.5T segment.
Dost is the contender and it outsells Mahindra's top selling Bolero Maxx truck. In M&HCV its performance is very dismal and need not be compared.

These are sales data for the past few years and will give more insight. Plz note that entire CV segment except SCV is now recategorised under Mahindra Navistar from Mahindra and Mahindra. May be this will be revoked after the name change takes place.

AL, has the widest range (interms of engine and loading span) of multi axle trucks in market currently. This includes top of the line 37T rigid truck and a twin speed rear axle variant in 31T and asd25T. Twin speed axles are almost an industry first where in, its expected to give a improvement in fuel performance upto 10%.

M&HCV passenger segment wise AL is the market leader with around 55% market share followed by Tata at around 40%

Most of the navistar trucks which are sold are back at the financiers yards . The reason is the trucks are not fuel efficient . If anyone of you from chennai is interested just try the bank /financing companies for Navistar trucks .. You can get them for a song . Same is the case with Nano . I happened to be at a parking yard for repossesed vehicles and There were quite a few Navistars all in mint condition and there are no takers for those vehicles . Same is the case with Nano about a 100 cars out there .

They use Tata buses for a reason at the airports . The passengers after getting into the flight do not get scared by small vibrations or jerks present in the aircraft as they have been subjected to an intense vibrations and jerks in the tata buses
