| BHPian | so this is the new tata 407 i spotted on Test near pune. after 25 years there is not much change in the design except New Headlights. i think tata have lost the opportunity once again by giving boring facelift to this truck. Sorry for the bad quality pic as i zoomed my mobile camera. |

| Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | @Tushky, thanks for that But in this segment, this one is a proven carrier. The looks may not matter that much, unless there is competition But I do agree with you that it is boring. The pro-activeness is missing with Tata, again. |

| Team-BHP Support ![]() | Wow, a face-lift thats coming after what seems like eternity. The old look has been around pretty much since day 1. One thing I should point out is that a large 1-piece headlamp cluster like that is more susceptible to damage while parking and in thick traffic. Damage that results in replacement of the whole assembly. The previous designed was 2 piece, with recessed headlight(sealed beam) & separate turn-signal. So you replace only the piece thats broken Last edited by Mpower : 20th February 2013 at 20:44. |

| BHPian | Wonder why it took ages for the test mule to appear?! It was announced in Oct 2011. http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/commer...ml#post2551230 (Iconic Tata 407 celebrates Birthday no. 25!) |

| With cute Super ACE below it and Upcoming Ultra series above it., making minimal changes to the proven war horse makes lot of sense. Look does not matter in this segment. If look is a criteria for purchase, Mahindra would have been out of business by now. The money saved can be used for improving other things! |

| there was a spy pic of this earlier doing rounds on the web with a red one sporting similar covering on the front. Hope they are also plonking new-generation CRD engines in these along with the styling update. |

The next design refresh on 407 will take place in 2030; of course the same cab will be retained. Poor show! Last edited by directinjection : 21st February 2013 at 16:51.

Hey Tushky, Was it near ARAI? Because there can be only one place on the earth where pre-production models of AL & TATA stand together!!!

| That's not an AL product but a Tata - the actual successor of 407. The series is called Ultra. Have a look at this for more details: http://www.topspeed.com/trucks/truck...-ar129885.html |
