motorcycles in indian army are used by despatch riders, not for fighting a war by fixing a gun on it! dont get confused by watching WW2 movies and seeing german army using side cars with guns fixed on them!

cheers:

Default Tatra Trucks

Yesterday night I saw a LHD Tatra 8x8 with a On-Trial board for the Indian Army, near KR Puram Rly Station. Way to go!!! It was huge, I was on bike and was very effectively dwarfed by its bulk.

Tatra would be a very useful addition to our army's fleet.

Default Mahindra Defence Systems (MDS) Faridabad unit on stream

NEW DELHI: Mahindra Defence Systems (MDS), a Mahindra group company that provides special light military vehicles, on Tuesday inaugurated the Mahindra Special Military Vehicles (MSMV) facility at Prithla in Faridabad (Haryana) that has facilities for specific military manufacturing applications.

“This state-of-the-art facility, the first of its kind in the private sector, will help MDS harness the potential in the defence space,” said Mahindra Group Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Anand Mahindra after inaugurating the facility.

“The MSMV facility will manufacture specialised vehicles for the armed forces, paramilitary forces and police and is also designed to undertake vehicle development, armouring and conversions. Different lines have been established for different products, ensuring the highest level of quality control and processes,” Mr. Anand Mahindra said.

“MSMV also has an advanced facility for research and design, product development, design and prototyping of special vehicles to meet specific customer requirements, which is another first in the private sector,” said MDS Chief Executive Khutub Hai.

The plant will have a capacity of 500 vehicles annually and roll out up-armoured vehicles like bullet-proof Scorpios, Boleros, Rakshak, Tourister bus, riot intervention vehicles and Marksman light armoured vehicle.

The second phase of operations will see production of AXE high mobility vehicle and the mine protected vehicle.

Tatra trucks have been in use for quite some time now by the armed forces. Was this a new model that you saw?

Technically it is called camber or something like that....long time back studied about it.

You must have seen the axle at the back of the truck. That is a single unit. In case of Tatra as seen in the photo, the axle is broken in two independent parts, As the veh is loaded the axle straightens out itself.

Since the axle itself is bent it cannot be technically called camber.
