I got to travel in it the other day, and it feels roomy/spacious inside, guessing it to be due to the higher head room.
I guess I meant to say the non AC Marco Polos in Bangalore are front engined (hence the different shape) while the non AC Marco Polos in Mysore are rear engined.

Yep, I agree that all the JnNURM buses look quite roomy and are actually spacious too. BMTC is supposed to get 500 more of buses in the near future (not sure, I remember reading it in some newspaper). It will be good if BMTC builds their buses on the same specifications too.

Then why are some of the MTC buses under JnNURM scheme in Chennai still sporting the ordinary route display boards?

Personally I find the scrolling LED displays a pain in the neck It's very difficult for people who are not used to the place to remember all route nos going via a particular place. And the text on these displays keeps changing, so it's not possible to find out where a particular bus is going, unless we fix our eyes on the board from the moment a bus appears on the horizon. If the text were kept stationary, the LED displays would be more than helpful.

Saw a Tata Marcopolo JNURM 17D bus plying from K K Nagar depot. Looks like MTC is spreading the Tata buses across depots earlier it used to be sent only to Mandaveli, T.Nagar & Alandur depots and occasionally to Poonamallee depots.

This bus interior looks more spacious than the AL buses and I feel that hand bars are somewhat higher than the normal buses.
Is there a bottle holder for driver?

Here are my observations:
- Bus was 12M in length, FE SLF (860 mm E+2)with two entries.
- Front windscreen was a split one with two prominent wipers.
- Through bonnet CSO
- Seating capacity 46+2+25
- There were two bottle holders over bonnet.
- There were two glove box over the driver seat.
- Bonnet lid, glove box, side display board enclosure everything was made up of FRP.
- They were unpainted with good surface finish.
- Bus was equiped with FM radio with few 2" speakers.
- Four vertical pillars were provided only in LHS.
- There were emergency stop request buttons in the Vertical pillars.
- Headroom was very good and that makes the bus more airy and seems to be more spacious.
- Integrated Instrument cluster "positioned little higher".
- Lot of Vaccum formed side body panels which were very flimsy with poor fit, gap and flush.
- Seats were from Tata Johnson Controls. Design seems to be little complicated with too many welds and reinforcements.
- Rexin seats instead of fibre seats.
- Every pair of seat have an arm rest.
- The side window aperture seems to be common between AC and Non AC Marcopolo's.
- The single aperture is divided into two openable windows.
- Opening of the glass seems to be little odd. There is a hook provided on the upper portion of the window and releasing that makes the window open/close.
- Unlike ALL which have a uniform saloon floor there was a hump over rear axle to about 30mm .
- There was a inspection window over that too.

Driver's Verdict:
- A pillar hindering the side view.
- High positioned Instument cluster makes it difficult to see the closer vehicle.
- Steering wheel was very big combined with not so good steering angle made it difficult to manure.
- He was prefering ALL over Tata and wants MTC to continue buying ALL and not TML.

Wow! The paint scheme looks a bit outdated, but the product overall looks okay. Waiting to see this thing in person.

You mean AL SLF do not have a hump to include the wheel-well? I thought it did for AL as well.

The older Luxura version is running in Bangalore - Hyderabad route. I saw the bus today near Hebbal. I think the bus leaves Majestic around 7.00 PM.

It looks the same but dark blue in colour.
