Max seating capacity is 58 in seater config. But in this coach the seating capacity will be less and I guess its 52 due to WC and coffee maker.

I guess, this one has 49 seats, don't forget pantry and washroom are also in the bus itself, which occupies a bit of space.

Correct me, If i am wrong

Cheers,
Sameer

Edit:

Sameer, Exactly! thats wat even I was trying to say that this bus cannot have more than 55/59 seats(at the max!).

Even otherwise 100 plus is normally possible only on Vestibules and not on normal coaches.
Thats what i read in the link http://www.deccanherald.com/content/...-city-bus.html.

The Transport Department has been plying a 14.5-mt bus with a passenger capacity of 110 for the last six weeks on the Outer Ring road in Bangalore. Not sure if they got it wrong.

This news talks about the 7400XL which is a 14.5M long city bus, with steerable rear-tag axle. That bus can carry 110passengers (including standees).

The main portion of the news talks about the 9400PX, which is also 14.5M long and also has a steerable tag axle, but is an intercity bus. This one, according to the news report, has 41 seats - which I feel is wrong. There should be 49/51 seats.

People will have to be really careful while overtaking this beast, the length and its powerful engine would make it really difficult, specifically on bangalore-mysore stretch which is quite narrow IMHO.

Look at the bus in the Longitudinal axis - seems like the bus has a lower than normal GC. Correct me if I am wrong. I accept that if length increases then height has to be reduced to keep the C.G low, but given our mountain speed breakers, even with suspension raising system, this bus seems, it will scratch its underbelly or side skirts.

Beautiful bus.

PS: All of pics (above) except the top left have been stretched disproportionately. The length is deceiving in these pictures!

You are correct here, this bus can "carry" 110 passengers in all. 55 seated and 55 standing.

I ve travelled in it and the driver told me that apart from the ITPL route, he finds it difficult to pilot it on other routes and it also results in traffic chokes at quite a few places.

I feel that BMTC should now introduce a NICE road service using these buses, it will get passengers.

The length is the picture is exaggerated. I have seen in flesh and have overtaken near silk board. the length appears slightly more than normal Volvo and same as multi-axle ones that ply inter city.

True, BMTC counted the standing 'seats' too. Hence the capacity is 110.

I have this bus with routes 335E, 500C & 500A. Of these 500C is most crowded. Hope they ply during peak hours.

This model is a global introduction from Volvo, produced in collaboration between the company’s Indian and Swedish engineers. It has been developed keeping Indian roads and passengers in mind. The model was first unveiled at the Delhi Auto Expo 2012.
Interesting!
I wonder what features are uniquely designed for Indian conditions.
If anything, a super-long bus will make slower progress through our crowded streets.

1770 Nm coming all live just at 1000 rpm. One heck of an engine to be driven and driven in! I guess the feel would be best in Manual gearboxes. Auto are not that fun to drive.

Hope our bus operators drive this one carefully and get an estimate of its length.

14.5 m Lengh is going to create an havoc when it is trying to take an U turn in the city and that too during peak traffic. However, the steerable tag axle will play its part in reducing the TCD. Does anyone know what is the TCD of this vehicle?

Thunaivan Travels, a new operator in Intercity bus segment has started their maiden route from Palani to Chennai with Volvo B11R.
Reportedly this could be the first B11R in TN operating in Intra state route.
This goes via Dharapuram, Karur (Bye pass), Namakkal, Salem, Aathur, Ulunthurpet, Vilupuram.
As the owner is from Namakkal, bus goes via this route. This is the first time such a route is explored. But the problem is too early departure at 2000 (arrival 0500). KTC with B9R, starts by 2345 and reaches chennai at 7000.
