6 years & 6 lakh km is huge! I guess this is part of Tata's strategy to regain CV market-share in 2018.

Is this an industry first? Can commercial vehicle experts share what the likes of Ashok Leyland & others offer?

This is Industry first and infact earlier also @4yrs, 4 lks KMs warranty also was industry first. Others are offering 3yrs, 3lks KMs to 2 yes 2lks kms warranty.

Anyway warranty extension has nothing related to vehicle reliability of durability. Its an kind of insurance these companies take. Whatever it is Tata's offering is huge and is another way to bring back its Customers.

Most others offer 3 year 3 lakh or 4 year 4 lakh km warranty.
6 year 6 lakh km is an industry first.
Warranties aside the fact that Volvo is ready to accept a AMC for buses upto 12 years or 30 Lakh km, and the 1 lakh km service and oil change interval speaks more in their confidence, this also attracts buyers who happily run 16 to 18 Hr 1000+ km a day.
