the company was very hopeful back then cause they had sold good number of vehicles for the mining job, delhi metro, bombay-pune expressway etc etc

but are they selling nything now?
With Kamaz entering India through a JV with Vectra, Tatra may be somewhat sidelined. It caters to a niche market, where its offroad capabilites make it peerless. Even at the autoexpo, the Tatra space was taken up by Kamaz.

The parent company seems to have a stepmotherly attitude towards Tatra India.

I can tell you that they sell about 100-150 vehicles anually. Their sales are limited by the number of kits they recive from CZ.

Hi, you'll get to see them in the KSRTC bus terminus at Majestic. There was news that KSRTC was evaluating other vendors for having a cheaper replacement to the Volvos, and between Corona and Ashok Leyland, it appears that the latter has won the race. But not seen AL buses though.

By the way, anyone's travelled by the Tata Globus buses doing duty for the KeralaSRTC? If yes, hows the ride, noise and speed characteristics?

The Globus is just about to be joined by the high end one. Have travelled a few kilometres on a private operators one in Goa.

Its much better than everything else except B7R. But then it costs only a fraction of B7R! All in all a good balance between cost and what they offer.

Check on the road from Lalbagh main gate to Lalbagh west gate around 7 pm. You'll find a KSRTC Corona - with Pune plates, passing that way almost daily. Have seen one there quite a few times over the last few months.

From what I understood, the Corona is a model from Ashok Leyland. One and the same

Is the Globus as powerful as the B7r? People take the B7r because of the time saved and the speeds rather than the comfort if i am not wrong!

I certainly do. One hardly notices the drop in speed in the ghat section of the Bombay Pune expressway in B7Rs, while all Indian make coaches crawl up 1st or 2nd gears.

Default No Diesel ?

Saw a few of these Tata chassis' near Amdavad on 05Feb. Model was possibly a 1516 - 'C' or 'S' (couldnt make out when passing by).

Couldnt spot a diesel tank. Just four white gas tanks on each.

One was being towed by a tow truck - possibly having run out of gas ?

Those are CNG tanks. Its a CNG bus chassis going to the body builder. Another clue is the looong rear overhang.

TATAS are the UNDISPUTED KINGS as far as commercial vehicles are considers. Indias largest and worlds 5th largest commercial vehicle manufactures.
they have more than 400 models of vehicles to suit each and every need of customers. Also they are dominant in other countries like South Africa, sri lanka, ukraine etc.
they have very fuel efficient and high quality engines. leylands run mostly on traditional Perkinsons type designs.
in India 75 % market runs on Tata. leylands found in 25% market in south only. Besides leylands have a very noisy engines. tatas are smooth with smoother gear boxes.

B7R is for 40 lacs plus and globus is much cheaper. Volvo engine is more torquier and better than globus. comfort is almost the same except the air suspensions in volvo with give u the best ride
