I kept receiving the same answer, it is a commercial vehicle and he does not know who sells it
maybe because they're not sure if its gonna be sold by the passenger car division or by their commercial division

This Truck sure looks imposing, the interiors at the first look are cool with a sedan like gear shift & the window controls in the middle.

Post more pics pls.

This wait is killing me,hope they launch it soon.
It will be with private plates, no one will buy a 6 lac plus vehicle[with 1ton capcity] with ac and 4x4 for commercial use [economics].and the M&M Getaway can be bought with private plate so TATA will get registration as private vehicle.

india is not yet a mature market for manufacturers to introduce such vehicle for indian consumers, cause there are not enough of these consumers to justify the volumns and profit making oppurtunity!

thailand is the worlds biggest double cab pickup market, xenon was made for thailand by tata.

it might be released in india on the foot prints of M&M Getaway, in limited numbers who will use it as a weekend run for fun trips!

cheers:

I completely agree with Parm on this. Thailand is the country which TATA wants to conquer and would be interested in making it a best seller here. The regulations here are so confusing that we don't know whether it'll sport a white plate or a yellow! Its after that we can decide whether we can buy it or no.

I agree, with the market not being not mature enough, but that is due to the pricing of such vehicles and the need for such vehicles by consumers. When the TL was launched in India in 06, it was priced 8.5LAcs for 4x4 crewcab, only 4 were sold, now there are more than 40 in goa after the price was dropped to around 6.7 for same and now theres another 20 grand discount. so the companies must price these sensibaly .

This reminds of the Datsun single cabin trucks of the 80's. Those were real powerful vehicles, it won the Himalayan Car Rally at least once (I theink it was twice but not sure)

It is a waste of effort as pick ups and station wagons are not acceptable by the indian car buyers.

They offer lucrative export opportunities though, which is the primary motivation behind Tata's development of the Xenon. Plus, don't write off the local market just yet. Semi-urban & rural areas offer fantastic potential. Priced competitively, a basic variants of the Xenon would do just as well in these markets. Mahindra never expected their pickup trucks to be so successful at the time of launch (coupla years back). The response was astounding!

These products are extremely profitable too. They use readily available engines (from other UVs in the family), a decade old chassis design and a common parts bin. Neither do you have Jap / Korean competition in this segment. Period.

Didnt tata sell quite a lot of tatamobiles and the telcolines too? The success will completely depend on the pricing.

Second that. This could be a potential upgrade from Tata Ace. Tata Ace is showcased (at least internally within the Tata fraternity) as a piece of marvel in innovation in terms of identifying the needs of consumers and meeting them with the rightly sized, priced and marketed product at the right time.

given that its a TATA, it is bound to be a hit in northern part of india, specially punjab.
If this thing can outdo scorpio in bhp and price, this is going to be another hot seller with college going kids, who like to roam outside girls college.
