Great spotting pal, but down south this is just common with many body builders copying the VOLVO body type and name it similarly like VOVO VOIVO and so on. Looks funny, but good advertisement for VOLVO.

Its a common sight in Kolkata too. They write Volvo all over the body, front, rear, on top of every window that loudly says that its "not" a Volvo. Once we had booked a coach for our office picnic and what came, had this Volvo marks all over it. For once we thought that it was a nice gesture from the transporter, but, soon that false feeling got busted.

A pretty common sight here down south.

Well, if not the real thing, at least the looks (or near enough looks) are good, I guess!

tch tch. The things one gets to see on buses these days.

I read an article some time back, i think it was in the papers, on how to recognize a fake volvo. Some of the points were:
1. A real volvo's windows can not be opened. they are sealed.
2. A real volvo's engine is at the rear (Duh!)
3. To recognize point 2 above, the back of the bus will have slits to let the engine heat out.

And my own addition:
It will be emitting thick black smoke from the exhaust at the rear.

Another, if you are in Bangalore:
It will be red in color, and will not hesitate to break traffic rules. One such bmtc volvo ran me off the road on Bannerghatta road when it was overtaking two two-wheelers going in parallel. Also, often you will see a competition between ordinary buses and the red devils, trying to outdo each other.

The real Volvo shall have a huge 3" dia exhaust jutting right out from the rear..

The TATA's Marcopolo also sports this..

Although this is clearly miles away from being a Volvo in the looks department, I think I saw a Kinglong in Kolkata with Volvo written on it. For most people the difference wouldn't have been that stark. However, Volvo having touched the hearts of the middle-class with their luxury offering in bus transportation, a bus that proclaimed itself to be KINGLONG would not have made similar statements.
