Default M&M to launch a Nano-esque pick-up vehicle

Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to launch a four wheeler based on its three wheeler Alfa’s platform. The new four wheeler is likely to be priced cheaper than the Nano. However, the vehicle, which M&M would sell as a pick-up, is expected to compete with Tata's vehicles in the same category such as Tata Ace Magic and not the Nano.

The M&M four wheeler would have a rear, 400-cc diesel engine, which would have a top speed of approximately 40-50 kph and return a mileage of about 25 kpl. The vehicle is likely to serve intra-city purposes. M&M had started work on the project in January 2008 and the company would be looking at launching the four wheeler in the next few months.

This is just equivalent to Piaggio's Ape Truk and Force Motors' four wheeled version of the Minidor.
