@ Bluethunder: Though I dont have any schematic diagrams but the layout is very simple. Its the same way (but a smaller one) as the FE rear wheel drive. The power goes from clutch to GB and thenusing a small Propeller shaft it drives the Diff and then it in turn powers the wheels.
@ Silversleed: In Cobus the driver compartment in completely isolated and the rest has a uniform floor except for the wheel arches. So its possible to accommodate upto 112 passengers. Thats the reason FE FWD buses are preferred in Airports instead of RE RWD buses.

That is fine, Ashley2, but what I am interested in knowing is this : is it a solid axle or not, and if independent (which I think it will be), the details of the suspension links.

Attaching a pic of chassis of Cobus, integral bus chassis. It should be understood that this is a FE Integral bus
Attachment 525625

This is also available. Even AL's Panther is of this type only. The body will be built over the chassis like FE models
I didn't know Integral bus chassis was supplied in two parts. Pretty cool as it allows endless customization.

Good news...both AL(HCV) & TML(LCV) BS4 buses are ready!

Few months back there were media reports of AL getting orders for 150 nos of BS4 buses from MTC Chennai. Now the buses are ready and will be on-road in a couple of days. Its powered by Hseries 165Hp engine with CRS & SCR systems.
The new bus image from AL website is below.

Also TML is ready with its new BS4 series LCV buses & trucks (407 to 1109). Its powered by 120Hp 497TCICDicor Engine with EGR (exhaust gas re-circulation)& Catalytic converter systems.

Saw a KSTRC bus which sported this at the rear ' ABS FITTED' ! For real? If so, great move IMHO.

And, Volvo etc has ABS?

Thats real for sure.
I think you should have spotted 12M buses and they are with ABS for seveal years.
Volvo's do have optional ABS.

^^^ Not just AL 12Ms, but some AL Vikings also are fitted with ABS. I remember seeing a lot of KeSRTC Super Fast buses (the ones with Irizar TVS bodies - so called Hi-tech coaches - Yellow color) with "Fitted with ABS for your safety" stickered on the top left corner of the front windshield. It was in 2003-04.

Not just AL, Last year, i have spotted at least one Tata bus in KerSRTC fleet with the above mentioned sticker. Not sure KerRTC was doing trials with these, as the latest ones do not have these stickers.

@teamveevee, the recently inducted TM buses have ABS, in some of them. They carry the letterings on the rear, and not in the front. The AL Vikings I mentioned fall belong to the RT, RN series, and not later than that.

Sorry to nitpick, but RN is the current series - RN buses are less than a year old. You must be talking of RR series.

The norms that KeSRTC had included in the tender they called in early 2010 had ABS as a prerequisite. ABS and Power Steering was compulsory - not sure if KeSRTC bargained off the ABS part, since none of the buses had "ABS" stickers (very few buses sported them in the RN series).

My bad. I think it was some of the last numbers in the TP series and RT series (RT series I know for sure, the other one am not so sure). RRx and RNx are not more than 2-3 years old, right?

About the tenders and orders, I guess ABS must be there in all buses, so they decided not to include the stickering?

RR series started in May 2006, and ended in November 2008 (No buses were inducted between August 2006 and August 2007).

RA series started in September 2008 and ended in February 2010.

RN series started in January 2010, and is still going in. It is hovering around 700s now. No new buses have been added in the past couple of months (other than the TATA 1612 Super Expresses). The corporation has stopped purchasing buses, after both the manufacturers (TATA and ALL) revised their prices and expressed inability to comply with the rate contracts that they had entered into, with KeSRTC.

Now, I hear that the corporation might go in for re-tendering, soon after the new government comes in.

Even I guess the same. I guess they stopped stickering since ABS is now made a standard feature for KeSRTC buses (atleast according to their tender documents)

AFAIK. as per the rate contract referred above, both TML & AL had supplied few BS3 buses for trial to KeSRTC during mid 2010. But KeSRTC failed to place further orders within Dec2010, when the contract ended. Now TML & AL has refused to supply BS3 chassis with old price. The fault seems to be with KeSRTC. Recently Malayala Manorama daily, has a detailed news in this regard.

Fault is certainly with KeSRTC. Both the manufacturers had supplied 10 buses each to KeSRTC - these buses are still running. I had uploaded a pic of the changed bonnet and dashboard of the ALL bus as well.

Will the same fiasco repeat with the JnNURM buses? KeSRTC had ordered a grand total of 320 buses (80 Volvos, and 240 ALL RE-LFs). Out of this 320 buses, KeSRTC has taken delivery of only 177 buses. And out of this, hardly 150-odd are on road.

The rates for the old contract are as follows:

ALL 4470mm WB: Rs. 7,16,780 (230 Nos)
ALL 5639mm WB: Rs. 7,16,780 (40 Nos)

TATA 4800mm WB: Rs. 7,16,780 (60 Nos)
TATA 5900mm WB: Rs. 7,16,780 (340 Nos)
TATA 6200mm WB: Rs. 8,48,612 (50 Nos)

Total 720 buses. [In addition, two ALL Fully built Double Decker buses @ Rs. 31,50,027, and one ALL Fully built Vestibule bus @ Rs. 31,98,565, were also purchased]

The dimensions of buses purchased by KeSRTC are as follows. (In the order: FOH - WB - ROH - Overall length, in mm)

ALL Cheetah: 1486 - 4470 - 2615 - 8571
ALL Viking: 1914 - 5639 - 3308 - 10861

TATA 1512 SWB: 1185 - 4800 - 2880 - 8865
TATA 1512: 1185 - 5900 - 3540 - 10625
TATA 1612: 2250 - 6200 - 3400 - 11850
