Though, I have to add, feels nice too finally see a site showing the massive bus range from Tata Motors.

Other than that there is a slight surprise on the site. A Tata 1616 BSIV with an Allison transmission in chassis form.

Now something which again disappointed me. The Tata Divo brochure still uses all the older pics from the previous generation Divo, while mentioning the features of the new generation one. They should update the pics in the brochure, as we have seen in another thread, the new Divo interiors have a decent amount of improvement.

I think someone should teach how to copy images from Google.
This is a serious blunder mistake and cannot be taken as granted

The variants are also shown in the main menu which only shows that there is a massive range but instead can be given in the details specification page.

Obviously, this is a work in progress.

I am getting the same layout as julupani and Ashley2 have posted; so something has changed after bnaiks made his first post.

Yes, the Eicher chassis is still there as I am typing this.

Am I therefore correct in concluding that TCS designs / maintains the site for Eicher??

Edit:-

@Ashley,

I think they have separated out the BSIII and BSIV models, thus a separate pic for each of them.

@Backseatdriver

What makes you think the site has been put done by TCS?? Just because it is Tata does not mean that it is handled by TCS. TML has its own IT back up company in Tata Technologies, which takes care of most of their IT stuff.

@julupani ::: Tata Technologies does not maintain or develop the commercial webpages for TML..Infact even the webpage of "TTL" is done by an external vendor.

Not really!
There are some other meager differentiations(power train options).

@P4life
Sorry for the confusion, but I was not suggesting that TTL does the webpage design for TML. I was just trying to show that TCS does not do everything related to IT for the Tata group.

@Ashley
Well, like I said, BSIV annd BSIII models have been differentiated. And as the tech specs differ among the two engines, they have had to put up two seperate pages. Here are the screenshots.

So finally the Globus is phased out from TM's bus range?
Also why is the FE SLF not listed in the rnage?

While driving in NH45 (Chennai-Trichy highway) last week, I saw this Ashok Leyland bus with 'On Test' stickers on it. Though i was initially skeptical about its not-so-immaculate body, I just guessed it would be the much-hyped Neptune engine which is being tested with this old outer body. If I remember correctly, the Neptue engine was launched with much fanfare at the 2008 Auto Expo and it was supposed to power all the new models of Ashok Leyland for both domestic and export markets. Slated to be more powerful yet more fuel-efficient, the Neptune engine can be made to meet upto Euro V emission norms.

And, just when I spoke to one of my friend's friend who works in Ashok Leyland, I came to know that my guess could well be right and Ashok Leyland is indeed testing the Neptune engine in public roads.

Here are the pics of the bus. Sorry for the poor quality as these were taken in my mobile.

I think its in AutoExpo 2010 and not in 2008.

Thanks Ashley. That was a typo. Sorry for the error. But, I still remember Ashok Leyland talking about the Neptune engine in 2008 itself.

ALL have been talking about their new Neptune engines for I think a good long time, definitely before 2008, but they were formally revealed in 2010 only.

As for this test mule, I would have thought the test buses would at least be in half decent shape. Do they just mount an engine out to any old chassis and send it out for testing?? As far as I know actual road testing is done mostly of complete vehicles, rather than just one component. Or is it that they have just mounted whatever body they could find on a new chassis??

Not always!
There are bus test mules whcih were fitted with typical load bodies and load them equivalent to a complete bus GVW.
A simple cost effective measure.

You mean in this case, the whole chassis underneath that tattering body is new, isnt it??

Ofcourse loading would be done, but in this case even the chassis, the wheels etc dont look new to me. Though I agree, pic quality may be misleading, and the chassis may be new design only.

Even if that is the case though, I still think ALL should care a little about their image in the public, and use a decent body on their test mules. If you spot a company bus looking like this, you cant really complain about the actual users running battered old buses.

OT:
Is the maintainance of the bus bodies that ALL use for their factory, for transporting employees etc the same as the one pictured here???
