KeSRTC has purchased a total of 240 Low Floor Leyland buses - of these, some 50 have already been introduced. Some 100 are already parked at various yards of TVS (in Kerala). All the 240 buses are to hit the road by end of February this year.

Its good to see more and more buses for city services. They could have introduced more buses with wide doors in city instead of "Thiru Kochi" services.

I personally think the AL low floor buses are too long for the Kochi city roads. Let us see the state of the buses after a while.
Binai/Jimmyjosek/Transsenger, do you know the current status of the 40+ Tata 1612 SuperExpress buses that are supposed to replace the current interstate buses? Post some pictures once you get a chance.

You are very true. The buses are damn long for Kochi - have seen the drivers struggling on Chittoor road. Even Thirukochi buses are long - they should've bought shorter buses instead of the current 10.8 metre ones.

Although I am not sure of the number, the new Super Express buses are indeed getting ready. One of them was used to ferry the mortal remains of the expired leader, K Karunakaran.

Check out those mammoth ripples on the side body panels. The Central Body-shop's quality is going from bad to worse in this aspect!

Had been to Mysore this weekend. Travelled in the City buses there. Mostly Leylands with the body built by the KSRTC workshop in Kengeri, and some by KMS.

The pic is from skyscrapercity.com, as I didn't click any pics.

The body was far better than what the Chennai MTC SLF buses have. Seat layout is more passenger friendly.

Saw some TM buses with similar body, and a few Marcopolos too.

More pics... The buses have a 3x2 seating layout. They have 55 seats, in 11 rows. Two such buses (RNC660 and RNC661) have been allotted to Trivandrum-Coimbatore route.

Edit: The bus has a driver operated hydraulic door. Rear axles have air suspension. The body work is really poor. Even the seat fittings are done awefully - could see the last row seats "dancing" to the harmonics every time the bus revved.

Too bad that they have put these rattling cages on such long distance routes.

Sweet, first they choose an underpowered Tata chassis and now they give it to CW, Pappanamcode instead of RW, Kozhikode!

Wrong chassis + Wrong body = Disaster

Good that these are 1613s instead of the usual 1512s. They should have got 1618s instead.

Oh yes. There isn't much difference between the current FP model and this one. The front windshield has got bigger, and the bumper has got fatter.

Here is a collage of pictures, of different TATA models made by Central Works, Pappanamcode. The buses in the collage are, from left top (clockwise), Ordinary (Short-Wheel Base), Ordinary (City, 2x2 seating), Ordinary (Mofussil, 2x3 seating), Fast Passenger, Super Fast, Super Express (With Air Suspension).

A Collage of Leyland models from the same workshop is also attached. (The models are arranged in the same layout as the TATA models.)

Tata's front fascia looks better AL's in ordinaries, SF's and SE's livery. But AL definitely gets the prize for the classic FP livery.

Anyway, nice collage there. BTW, are those Tata SE's 1612's or 1613's as teamveevee says?
