But if you look at the route very closely, majority of the route is on TN roads. The distance from Shantinagar bus depot to KA TN border is about 30 kms. The bus goes to Thiruvananthapuram via Nagercoil. The distance between Thiruvananthapuram and Nagercoil is about 70 kms while the distance from Nagercoil to KL TN border is about 35 kms.
This route exists because of lesser interstate KMs covered inside KL/KA states. I think they have permit for 2 services and now one service alone is running. In the same lines, APSRTC has a Hyderabad to Chennai service after AP state bifurcation.

Yes. This depot is used for connecting important cities/towns across TN from trivandrum.
