Default Electric CVs in India

Hi everyone,

I'm looking into electric commercial vehicles in India. I know some Indian CV manufacturers have EV projects, like Tata's Electric Ace (are there any others?), though I don't believe any of these are for sale in India yet?

EVs are best for intra-city, short-hop, stop-and-go traffic, which would seem to be great for small CVs (<1 ton) in Indian cities.

Some advantages:
  • Much lower running costs (higher efficiency)
  • Lower maintenance costs

Some challenges seem to be:
  • Higher initial purchase price
  • Dependence on electric grid (less dependable than gas availability?)
  • Downtime for charging (longer than gas station filling time), though overnight charging or swappable batteries (for fleets) could be a solution to that

Any other ideas on what might be required for electric CVs in India, or those who use CVs, any thoughts on your requirements?

Electric CV is non existent here in India.

Delhi Government launch this long ago, if i remember correctly. But all vehicles were scrapped, it was a failed project. I have seen them parked in one of the depot in 2004.
