About the "alloy" wheel discussion we had couple of pages back; saw this bus in "flesh and blood" today. (the 3rd pic - Krishna's Guruvayoor - Ekm bus).

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/commer...ml#post2243358

That one has radial tyres; and surprise of surprises - another bus parked on the other side of the road too had radial tyres. Just for the heck of it - asked the driver why the wheels look different, and he said "tubless".

A SAD update:

A tempo rear ended our AC bus while it was on the way back to Kerela from TN. As far as I have heard, the damage is moderate. Insurance has to be claimed. We dint get any compensation from the tempo driver who pleaded for his job's sake.

As far as business is concerned, the AC bus is doing better than expected. It has a lot of trips, of course, less of marriage or function trips & more of group packages. Of course, the most profitable of the lot is the Stag, the mini bus has the maximum number of trips.

Regarding the performance of the vehicles, its working flawlessly. It had a small issue initially. With AC on, the driver complained of poor "pick up" (acceleration). We got this checked & it turned out that the O2 sensor was faulty. Not expected in a brand new vehicle. Anyways, it was replaced in warranty, free of cost. It costs 24,000! Now, the driver can feel the extra horses!

That dent is real sad. Trouble with HV bodies is that unless done properly and thoroughly, such damages stand out like a sore thumb. And if a case was registered, you will have to get the fitness certificate revalidated. (Looks like no case was registered).

Feels nice to hear that you are doing good business.

sorry to hear about the AC bus. Is'nt the rear of your bus made of FRP? So do you have to change the whole panel?
BTW, Regarding the Stag, are there any plans to make this one Air-conditioned?

Hey Raj! hope the AC Bus has been tinkered and is now back in Business. Thank God it was not a rear-engine, or the expense might have shot up three-fold

Yes, the AC bus has been repaired. Total repair cost was Rs. 9500/-.

Some reports regarding maintainence of the buses. I am updating the maintainence report of all the four buses (AC, 2 non-AC & mini) here itself for easy comparo.

Links of the threads of the other 3 buses are here & here.

Maintenance costs of each for this FINANCIAL year (4 months), that is, from April 2011 to July 2011. Please note that this is only repair or servicing costs & DOES NOT include fuel or oil :

AC bus - Rs. 17386/-
Mini bus - Rs. 27236/-
Non-AC bus 1 - 21640/-
Non-AC bus 2 - 12635/-

Monthly :

April 11 - Rs. 1910/-
May 11 - Rs. 59639/-
June 11 - Rs. 14045/-
July 11 - Rs. 3303/-

Number of kms run (approx) :

AC bus - 10500 (purchased in Feb 11)
Mini bus - 35000 (purchased in Aug 10)
Non-AC bus 1 - 28000 (purchased in Jan 10)
Non-AC bus 2 - 35000 (purchased in Jan 10)

Of course, star of the group is the small wonder, our mini bus. However, it has been high on maintenance too.

I understand the utilization is more for the minibus. Could you please elaborate, whats the nature of complaints in the small wonder?..excluding the periodic oil service.

What about body maintenance?

At lest since the minibus is built by what I would call "local workshop", do you keep track of body work separately?

Please make sure that they lubricate the "Kingpin" (pivot on front axle around which the wheels to turn left / right) while greasing the bus. I suffered a lot because this was ignored. They will ignore this because it involves poking head into a wheel inside the front wheel.

Yes, nature of expenses on the mini bus are as follows -

* Air checking
* Greasing
* New Tube
* Tyre retreading (the tyre was worn out at 30000 kms)
* Side glass refitting (@ backseatdriver: this clears your doubt regarding "local" builder)
* Tyre powder
* Some spares worth Rs. 7500 were purchased from TVS, I will have to check what was bought.

By the way, Sisira is no longer into body building business.

There is nothing much you could about the tyres, as the body of the bus would be heavier. Btw, whts this "Air Checking"!

Sisira is closing its body building operations since the Bus Code would be effective from March2012. As of now, only Kondody Autocraft has opted to be ceritified under new norms. Meanwhile, sources indicate Sisira is trying for some CV dealerships.
