Default PIC : New bus with a retro makeover

Spotted a brand new bus in Trissur called Balettan, also called Rajarathnam. This bus is extremely unique. It has been built exactly like a bus from the 1960's. Looks simply awesome. Nice new idea from the owner. The body has been built by some small time workshop from Trissur. But the finish is awesome, especially with the chrome plated fittings. Please have a look here:

I agree, that does look very cool. The retro look does give it a lot of class.

I personally feel that it should be in the Weird and Wacky thread.

There is no doubt that lot of hardwork has gone in the making.
The work quality seems great but as far as the design is concerned, its a bit loud.

The bus definitely looks retro, but I think they could have done away with that chrome work on the front. I remember back in the good ole days , the same grills were in use and were painted black.

@Riju - painted black or made in Aluminium ? Like the side-strips of a Padmini ?

That bus brings back a lot of memories. Had almost forgotten those quarter-panels glass panes at the front & back. Even older ones had a more curve on that quarter-panel glass panes.

The body of the bus is a direct shift from 1970s. But the grill of Leyland buses in thosetime was a bit different. However, a very unique and novel idea which evokes nostalgia.

I think its more of a mini bus. Looks like the LYNX chassis here. Reminds me of my favourite saying WHY BLEND IN WHEN YOU CAN STAND OUT

jimmyjosek-good workmanship, but i am in doubt if there was that kind of a color scheme in the 1960's or 1970's,the front indicators too look not from that era [the slanting 1's].otherwise great job done there.

Condor exactly same as the older padmini grills. Most of those buses had black grills and would sound like a monster.

It is just a regular Kerala bus, a little more than normal I think thats about it, nothing retro about it I think. Wild and Whacky would be a little too much but retro this is nothing like..

Definitely looks retro. The pre-monsoon looks is good. The post monsoon looks will be very interesting knowing how the color changes
