Congratz! The trim for navigation HU is available from multiple sources if you are willing to get it shipped.

When I was first told about the cost of AFS setup, I thought the same. But later some time heart must have over ridden the brain in an impulsive moment to go for it. I guess some things are just too much to digest when we remain perfectly sane always!

Default Installing OE MIC for BT handsfree calls - DIY

I had installed the mic that came with Dynavin in the OE MIC location in the front light console on the ceiling. Though the hands free communication was clear in the beginning, as the mic was not a proper fit I guess, the clarity went down while driving. Thought about solutions and felt I could either place the MIC in a different location using the MIC holder that came along with it or replace it with an OE MIC. I chose to do the latter as I did not want a MIC standing out as an additional fitment. I'm not really a fan of such add ons which do not look like factory fit.

Purchased the OE mic from Vagtune. Costed me 2.5K INR and installed it this morning. Pictures shown below will walk you through the simple DIY.

Before opening the panel.

Use an interior trim removal tool or any plastic object to carefully lift one side. Do not use hard object and metal tools as they would damage the trim and leave visible marks. If you want to use a metal tool, use cloth around it to avoid direct contact and do it very carefully.

Front panel removed to access the 2 torx screws beneath which secures the light console.

Light console removed. Blue connector is for the cabin lights and the black wire hanging is the MIC wire from Dynavin HU.

Dynavin MIC removed and replaced with OE MIC.

OE MIC placed in its designated slot in the console.

Console with OE MIC in place.

All boxed back.
My Skoda Yeti - DIYs, OE Upgrades & Custom Mods. UPDATE: Park Assist video on Page 8-mic-diy-10.jpg

Tested call clarity with engine running and AC blowers running at 5. At position 5, blowers produce quite some noise in the cabin but the person on the other end did not notice any disturbance and could hear me clearly. Will check it further while at higher speeds and on poor surfaces.

One important thing I missed out while purchasing OE MIC for the DIY is to get the male connector. I highly recommend making plug n play fitment with proper connectors. I was in a hurry and purchased just the MIC. I realized it this morning (that I did not purchase the male end for the wire from the HU) when I was about to carry out the installation. Well I did it the the traditional way now by splicing the co-axial cables and insulating it back neatly. But usually I myself like to use proper connectors. Since this hopefully is going to be a permanent connection, thought it would do. Anyways, splicing the co-axials for MIC reminded me of the good old rock band days in school and college. Since the cables which were ready made available locally were of poor quality, we used to import cables and connectors for hooking up amp. to various music instruments. Those were the days!

Thanks.

I can try. Can you put some link?

Also for Mic setup at OE position, do you have any instruction to wire it from HU? I meant how to route the wires.

Below are the links to 2 sites I have visited, but I am sure there are other online VAG spare parts shops too which would have it.

Regarding the routing of the mic wire, you need to be a little careful as there are airbag components behind the A pillar panel. You need to route it behind the interior trim on the A pillar. I haven't clicked the snaps of the install as it was already dark by the time I got the HU installed. But since you asked, let me see what I can do.

Received my unit last evening. Looks good in quality. Now i have to wait for the faceplate before i go and install the same. Two question
1. There are two USB ports, Media and Internet. I am guessing media is something to connect the ipod. What is internet used for ? Dongle?
2. How is the USB and Ipod button different when there is only one USB port for Media (i guess the same should connect to Ipod)

Hey abbey, good to know you have received your unit!

1. The USB port tagged as Internet is for android based HUs I guess. Not sure if it can be used on these N6 platforms. There is a button which says "apps" and Dynavin might release compatible apps in future. May be internet port could be of use then. I am not sure about these, just my wild guess.

2. Yes the thumb drive and iPod connects to the same Media USB port. Like the disk button wont work when there is no disk in the DVD drive, only applicable buttons would work depending on what is connected.

Yeah, I got mine from Skodaparts. It comes in a light weight box just the size of a pizza box. Ships pretty fast too as there are no customs hassles.

Regarding the routing of mic wire, I have clicked some snaps to show you the procedure. I am actually a bit caught up with some last minute jobs as I am travelling to Mumbai tomorrow and onward to Dubai the day after that. Will update you sometime soon hopefully. Thanks.

Thanks, I had mailed skodaparts in afternoon to know the international shipping cost. The cost which is displayed in their cart is for mainland UK. Hoping to receive a reply soon before i can order.
And thanks again for going an extra mile to click snaps for me.

There you go. In whatever little time I had, I managed to click a few pics to guide you on how to route the mic cable from the OE MIC location to the HU.

This is a pic from one of my earlier posts. Start from here by passing the HU end of the mic cable towards the windscreen.
My Skoda Yeti - DIYs, OE Upgrades & Custom Mods. UPDATE: Park Assist video on Page 8-1.jpg

You can get the end of that wire in the location where I am pulling down.
My Skoda Yeti - DIYs, OE Upgrades & Custom Mods. UPDATE: Park Assist video on Page 8-2.jpg

The front end of the ceiling is not sealed and hence can be pulled slightly as shown, to insert the cable and route it towards A pillar.
My Skoda Yeti - DIYs, OE Upgrades & Custom Mods. UPDATE: Park Assist video on Page 8-3.jpg

For little more ease, you can unscrew the sunshade by lifting the screw cover shown in the next 2 pics.
My Skoda Yeti - DIYs, OE Upgrades & Custom Mods. UPDATE: Park Assist video on Page 8-4.jpg
My Skoda Yeti - DIYs, OE Upgrades & Custom Mods. UPDATE: Park Assist video on Page 8-5.jpg

To remove the A pillar trim, first you need to pull out the rubber beading.
My Skoda Yeti - DIYs, OE Upgrades & Custom Mods. UPDATE: Park Assist video on Page 8-6.jpg

Use both hands to pull out the beading.
My Skoda Yeti - DIYs, OE Upgrades & Custom Mods. UPDATE: Park Assist video on Page 8-7.jpg

This is the part you need to be very careful. You can see a part of the airbag behind the trim as I lift it. You have to pull it out and slightly upwards to release the 3 clips that secure the trim in place.
My Skoda Yeti - DIYs, OE Upgrades & Custom Mods. UPDATE: Park Assist video on Page 8-8.jpg

Once the A pillar interior trim is removed, pass the wire and secure it at multiple points onto the A pillar (metal part) using adhesive tape so that there are no loose wires. Then you can pass the wire from the location shown in the below pic (pic shows the trim in place but once you remove it, you can pass the wire down through that space).
My Skoda Yeti - DIYs, OE Upgrades & Custom Mods. UPDATE: Park Assist video on Page 8-9.jpg

Once you pass it through this space, then you just have to pass it till the HU and secure the wire at multiple points.

If I had done the installation before dark hours, I would have clicked more snaps with the A pillar trim open showing in more detail how to route the cable. These are clicked without actually removing the trims just to give you an idea of how to route the MIC cable. Hope this helps. Thanks.

Great mods ajaypjayaraj.

The HU looks classy and much better than the low-resolution Stock Skoda Bolero in my Superb.

I do have few questions regarding the Dynavin HU.
1. Where is the USB female port to be mounted? AFAIK it's not on the HU front panel.
2. Superb has inbuilt bluetooth, will the existing setup be compatible with HU or will I have to use the equipment provided along with HU(the mic, etc.)?

Looking forward to your reply.
Happy mile crunching!

Thanks dr.kushagra!

1) I have my media collection on micro sd card for playing in car and so normally don't use the USB/iPod input media cable which runs from behind the HU. Hence haven't routed the media input USB cable inside the cabin yet. However I plan to do this as DIY some time later. I have seen in VW Jetta that you have provision to route media cables into the glove box. Don't know about Superb. If there is no such provision (like Yeti also does not have) you will have to do a slight mod to route the USB media input cable into the cabin. I have a few ideas for Yeti regarding this. Will be doing this mod at a later stage only.

2) If you have the OE MIC in the light console in the ceiling already, then you can hook it up with the HU MIC in wire. Other than that, since Dynavin comes with built in BT module, the superb's BT module is not of any use once you change the HU.

Thanks. Happy motoring!

I have routed media cable to glovebox. This way it will be hidden and since you can control your ipod from HU, hence this is good enough solution for me.
