Thanks Anurag. I installed it yesterday - took only 2 mins. The problem was that the silly credit card won't work.

A simple thin serrated knife opened it in seconds.

It feels like a more airier car

Thanks for your comments. It feels great to be in that cabin with brighter light to make eyes less strained.

Is yours 'V' variant or 'Z' BTW?

No need to get an aluminium sheet and carve a L shape frame and then screw it.
Simply take some 3M double sided tape available at stationary shops, make a U shape structure of it(with extended U ends). Stick the light at one side and the ends on either side of festoon. LED light is light enough to hang in their with a simple bond of double side tape.

Regards

The package arrived this morning, and works well. Now I have only one minor problem. Given the small size of the compartment, I don't have a lot of places to stick the LED panel. Also, I am incredibly anal, and want the light at the centre of the compartment (the same position as the OEM bulb).

I thought about it, and the only way out seems to be to fashion an L shaped bracket (from an aluminium sheet?) which can hang from one of the bulb terminal pins and hold the panel. I will do it this weekend (time permitting) and put up a pic once done.
You need something simpler - duct tape. Tape it on the inside of the light cover

Its held up well over a week. Let's see how it stays over the long term.

I installed the same one as Anurag in my H-Accent (2000) yday. It is so blazing hot that I forgot to take any WIP photos.
H-Accent has only one center dome light for entire cabin and yellow bulb was as good as our streetlights. Thanks Anurag.

What I want to mention is that, in my Accent, there is POLARITY issue.
I installed it and slid the switch but no light, got bit tensed but then I changed FESTOON connector sides and VOILA, the light came on.

Thought of mentioning it for benefit of those who might fix the light wrong way for the first time.

Regards-Sonu

Thank you Sonu. Happy you liked the DIY even though it is a simple one and did perform the same on your car.

I forget to mention this Polarity issue in my actually. Thanks for raising it. It was mentioned in the product description actually on SnapDeal but slipped out of my mind.

Hello all,
Here are the pics of my roof lamp LEDs.
Cost of led:Rs. 40*2

Result: It feels like sitting in my bed room. Extremely bright.

Just realized that only one image can be attached from the mobile app.
Is it true??

Attached pic is of the 2 led patches switched on.

Great. With one LED strip I feel having fixed a CFL inside the car can't imagine two!

Is the older version or newer version of the App that you are using?

Multiple images can be be added in one post.

I've done this latest DIY led install but not in cabin but on the rear of the car.
Have a look at the video. Blinking led on the center fog lamp.
Led sections installed cost Rs. 50 for a pair. They have inbuilt blinker circuit. All you have to do is connect it to the 12V wiring.

I have a query. I have purchased this SMD 5050 LED strip of 10. Can I take out two from this and fix it in the dome light? Or should I restrict it to one. My query is from an electrical load perspective and not regarding illumination.

From Electrical load perspective I do not see any issue, however had I been in your place I would have used single strip. I have one LED strip installed in my car and that illuminates the cabin pretty well, and two LEDs would be too much light to handle.

So tried connecting one of the strips from post #70, directly to the edges of the festoon (after the festoon was removed). No luck. Changed polarity. Still no luck.
The bulbs are fine as I checked them later. Where am I going wrong?

Try getting such kind of spring loaded festoon connector.

Splice the ends and connect the wires of the LED strip.

Should work.

Installed these in the boot of my ANHC and here are the results.

The first two pics are the ones on stock light and the rest are with new SMD 5050 LED's. I was amazed by the results myself.

Apologies to Anurag for hijacking this thread, but I guess I owe the inspiration to you!
