Worldspace needs an antenna. fixed one(antenna towards South-East during installation). Maybe you can hear once the car is stationary

"It's a global satellite radio service which offers an amazing array of programs, through a compatible satellite radio with a special antenna which has to be installed outside the house and must have a free line of site to the satellite without any trees or walls in between."

@ rsjaurr;here look @ that product http://www.whirlwindsales.co.uk/acat...orldspace.html

and abt reception for cars..

In-car receivers allow you take your favorite WorldSpace channel with you across town or across countries.

http://listen.net/faq/index.html

Can I use the receiver in my car? Is it mobile?

The current line of WorldSpace receivers is not designed for in-car use. However, we have heard from receiver owners who have safely secured the receiver antenna on their dashboard and have been able to pick up reception. In areas where there are few obstructions such a tall buildings or trees, you should be able to maintain line-of-sight with the satellite while in motion.

Will manufacturers be launching a car receiver?

WorldSpace does plan to introduce a car receiver and is currently working toward this goal. We expect to have WorldSpace receivers available in the near future

http://www.worldspaceradios.co.uk/reception.html

The last link clearly says that its the lack of receivers which hinder the use of worldspace in cars.

So devarshi, where will u install this antenna on car??If it can be,i will go for it.

Worldspace lacks the car receivers that Xm and Sirius have released here in N.America. Better transmission losing out due to bad choice of receivers.

no, teh car needs to be stationary as teh receiver unit needs to get locked to teh beam ( 3 beams per satellite). This would not be possible with a moving car.

In future it maybe possible as 25 Million $ was paid by XM to Worldspace and hence XM tech wil be used and hence worldspace will have terrestrial repeaters liek Xm has for superb coverage.

Jk this products Tongshi Damb-R WorldSpace Radio has been made for those who r on move. Its size is almost equal to portable media players. If it can be used as portable media player, then it can be used in car as well.

And have a look at http://www.mouthshut.com/review/Worl...o-81936-1.html

yah ok! and where you gonna park to hear? Paddy field? or some stadium. just joking.

And worldspce antennas near mobile phone towers wont work efficiently and most installers wont recommend buying one if you liev very near a mobile phone tower

Anyway, teh whole install would be 10k up atleast.

They wont work. Even XM receivers in US wont work with Sirius in US.

Keep this to yourself people. You will soon have specific satellite receivers which can be fitted into cars. It would cost about the price which steer mentioned and will have an additional subscrition fee. This would hit the market within this FY. Please don't ask me for the source at the moment. I will be fired!!!

kb, Tru Tech is coming out with a satellite radio receiver very soon...specially for you. Hmm, priced at about 1.5 lacs. I tried telling them that's peanuts for you, but they insist on the blowout price tag. Ok, I'm nuts!

i thought anything can be connected to a Hu with Aux-in (provided there are necessary cables)

There' a product with line out connection, can't it be used? ( the rest they have is an USB and a headphone socket).

Anyway, we have time till worldspace gets some terrestrial repeaters. But will thsi happen in India soon. Even FM deployment jsut took off.

I think these can be used with HU's aux-in.[need cable for that].Like my alpine HU's aux-in cable will have 2 RCA sockets at other end.So all i will need is line-out pin which most probably is stereo pin at one end and two RCA pins at other end of cable to go into RCA connectors of aux-in cable.

But its debatable whether it can be used in moving car.
Read this...http://www.mouthshut.com/review/Worl...o-81936-1.html
