Fiberglassing - Team-BHP

Guys,

Just curious enough thought of starting a new thread on fiberglassing. Going through couple of posts especially from BR, here i am, thinking of DIY fiberglassing

1. Where can i find the following in Bangalore.

Fiberglass Mat and if possible Cost/ft
Body filler (not sure if this is what you apply post fiberglassing pre painting)
Resin
Hardener
T-nut

2. Is there any other material like fiberglass which is better for fabricating kick panels and custom sub enclosures.

Fiberglass / Resin and Hardener I get from a supplier who door delivers, now u can get this in Shivajinagar, don't know where though.

What is a T Nut ?

Can you provide me the contact details and name of this guy as i am not well versed with placed in Bangalore.

T-nut is used to embrace the subwoofer with the wooden baffle. Looks similar to these. they are applied from the bottom so that when the screws winds into them instead of the MDF baffle.

Aha, BR would help you out.
T-NUTS are difficult to find. i could not find them in Noida, they had to be sourced from Delhi - i needed them for my bed

try a good hardware store, i'll advice you to take the picture along too.

what are you plannng to do-is it a sub enclosure or some thing else.i think there was a thread related to this .and that was a step by step process for a DIY project for sub enclosures.can some one put the link ,

Ram, i am planning kick panels and su enclosure. I am actually looking out to find a source for the raw materials basically.

I had started a thread specially for this but could not found it. Challo anyway I found another idea to mount the sub and even better than the T-nuts.

Mounting of the sub.

First I made a ring of steel and drill hole and tapped the holes with same PCS as of the sub.

The black ring came with the sub.

The ring with allen bolts and with tapped holes.

The Ring mounted on the inner side of the encolusre with screw to be held inside.

The steel ring test fit on the sub.

The sub mounted on the front baffle.

This is creative and truly out of the box thinking, LBM.. Brilliant technique...

wonder if those rings will feel bad if mount them against the sub that i am using when i compare it with the one shown in the picture

T-nuts can be sourced from old delhi. allen bolts are very expensive yaar.
my bed is still holding strong with the T nuts

i would also want to share my bed's pic here -

T- nuts can be found any wherer in India where you have a hard wahre store. these are frequenlty used in machine shop and very important tool for them . so it should'nt be that hard to find these at any local hardware shop. or you probably wana weld ( or stick ) two small nails on both sides of the nut you want. sumthing like this -0- this can work as a Tnut as far as you dont want to show it or want to use it in Fiberglassing. as it will look ugly.

in the pic attached you wil see the basic Tnut used for industrial purpose.

That is not a t-nut it is a T-Slot nut. Used in tighting dies and mould or components on bed plates of machines.

That is correct and the pciture is a T nut.

LBM, thats what guys in the machine shop call a T nut!..basically a nut in the form of a T..

Hmm yes you are right. I think monty9991 was getting confused with woofer t-nuts.

there are lots of mdf malasian furnitures flooding the market. if u go to big bazaar and other furniture shops they have there MDF/Particle board furnitures.
the t-nuts are used extensively by them to fasten the planks together. u can get from any these kind of shops.
