| Hi, I am looking out to purchase an electric drill for home usage. My requirements are as follows. - As compact as it can be (as usage will be minimum) - Should be capable of drilling into concrete walls - Max I may use it to fix screws of 20mm depth Any suggestions of Make/Model and the estimated price would be welcome. (I am based at Bangalore) Also is it true that the drilling machine is not so important but the quality of the drill bits used is what matters? Any other key feature that I need to look out for ? Since I am a novice in this area. A search on eBaySearch: Find Items shows up drills with unbelievably low prices, so I doubt the quality of these drilling machines. -Fillmore |

| BHPian | I Got a bosh drill for home use, it costed like 2.2k + ~400 rs for the bits from bosh itself . The bit kit contains for wood ,concrete and metal of various sizes . Go to SP road and keep waiting straight, on the main road itself , ride side you see a big showroom of BOSH itself ,buy it from there .The quality is very good ,should last for minimum 10 years . Its a one time investment ,get a good one . I initially got a local 300rs drill like on the ebay, its dint last after 3-4 times use.

| Check this out Bosch - Cordless Tools Get the one with atleast 14v rating else you would curse the drill for loosing juice quickly. |

But there are cheap ones which can do the job. I have a Black & Decker cordless drill. It is powered by a 9.6v battery. I have used it to drill in the wall, wood, steel. It was for around 5k iirc. cheers clip. | ||

| BHPian | yes you can but you need to be ultra careful ,if you over press the button you are screwed . It can turn as slow as 1 or 2 or 3 rev/sec to full speed . But you need to press the button as gently as possible . I recommend not to use it as screw tightener . I have destroyed the screws or broken them while using this .
