DealExtreme: $6.68 FiiO E3 3.5mm Earphone Volume Booster Power Amplifier (Black)

This can overcome the volume issues

Awesome stuff Shreyas. This should show those high-priced manufacturers a thing or two.

Yes, thats exactly what i have done. My HU 5090 has AUXIN at the back. so i connected the handfree to the aux in. I coninue to use my usb port for my drives.

In your case you connect the handsfree on the front of the HU

@shreyas, can you check if the person on the other side is hearing echos ?

For older phones, cut off the speakers in the headset and connect the wires to a 3.5mm jack. The mic is in the junction box on the headset and is sensitive enough to pick-up the conversation when fixed near the odo-console [where @shreyas had fixed the bluetooth hands-free]
Attachment 98311
Now a days you get converters which attach to your Nokia(others too) sickets & simply give you a socket to attach a 3.5mm jack. Just take cable which has this jack at both ends & you are done

Wonderful thread shrey. I have a few doubts though.

I have a bluetooth headset (Iqua) which I can't use anymore as the ear-holder is broken.

I have a Pioneer HU. Linky below :

Pioneer USA - Cassette Receivers

The HU is connected to a 12 CD changer. I dont see an AUX In port. How can I connect the HU to the headset and use the bluetooth device as described?

I'ld love to do something like that.

By the way, what I have been doing is quite simple, my N95 has 3.5mm Headphone socket, so a 1' cable with both side 3.5mm male pin does it for me. One end goes in N95 other one goes in HU's Aux in. And N95 is kept where you have kept the bluetooth handsfree. That way N95's mic and ICE's speakers are used in the call. (N95's mic is pretty strong). No bluetooth, no wire cutting, soldering. Simple. Isn't it.

Regards,
MG
