The DUREX Ride for SAFETY, 09 shall take place on Sunday, the 29th of November, 2009 MUMBAI. The Rally will be flagged off from Nariman Point and will be a formation convoy upto Bandra Bandstand.

Organized by Mr. Vijay D Jain, who is a prolific biker, an award winning national level motorcycle stunt champion and an active face in the motorsport scenario in India, the Aids Awareness Bike Rally is where concerned motorcycle and car enthusiasts will congregate to contribute to a social cause of a high order. Vijay D Jain has won a number of national level events, and is the founder of WheelieBoy Racing, a young, dynamic and successful racing unit in the country.

Our Cause Ambassador for this event is a lady who cannot be described in words. Deepa Malik, a dynamic lady with waist-below paralysis has voluntarily involved herself in this ride. Deepa Malik, to the unintroduced, is a Limca Record holder and has made invaluable contributions to national motorsport. Deepa Malik has been working hard for the last 10 years for the improvement of facilities for Aids affected children. She had volunteered for the event last year too, but the ride was called off owing to the unfortunate terrorist attacks in Mumbai. With the Aids Awareness Bike Rally, Deepa will come forth to highlight her cause for promotion of disabled motorcycle and car enthusiasts, also supplementing Aids affected people and highlighting automotive safety in the country. It is heartening to see that despite her sever physical disability, she will ride at the forefront, on her specially designed motorcycle through the entire course of the rally.
OUR SPECIAL GUEST OF HONOR- ACTRESS JUHI CHAWLA

The Event :
The DUREX Aids Awareness Bike Rally is expected to host approximately 250 enthusiastic riders from Mumbai and Pune. Note- 1) Will upload the registration form in couple of days.
2) I need some volunteers to handle registration counter, celebrities, lineup vehicles etc.
3) If any one willing to be a volunteer pls shoot a mail with your name/cell no. so that I can talk to you in person.
4) Registration will be on the spot.
5) T-shirts will be give to the riders (only till stock last).

I would like to thank Durex (title sponsor). B S Motoring (magazine patner), Big 92.7 fm (radio partner) Deepa Malik (for helping me through out the event, Last but not the least Mumbai Traffic Police for giving the permission to organize the ride.

CDI kit for a Bullet Electra?

We all know that not much can be done to tweak the timing on a Bullet Electra 4s or 5s.

But very recently I was reading some articles and it had some information about a Programmable CDI kit that is available for bikes ranging from 1 to 6 or more cylinders. I have never heard of anything like this available for the Bullet Electra 4s or 5s.

Could someone help me source a kit for my bike. I am sure all the 350 Standard owners would love this as it is quite a pain to get the points in the right place for the good old standard.

Yamaha RX 100 Queries

I haven't moved the Yamaha café racer (RX 100) for quite some time now. The last I started her up, it started in a few kicks. But the moment I put it in gear, it jerked violently and stalled. The clutch is jammed. Over time if a bike is unused the clutch plates can stick to each other.

Obviously, only solution is to free up the clutch plates.

I've heard there are two possible ways to do this:

*Suspend rear wheel*
- keep the rear wheel suspended
- start the bike, engage gear, hold the clutch lever and hold throttle to reach 20-30 kmph for a few minutes.

*Manually*
- Opening up the clutch plates, oiling it and seperating them

I've tried the first method, but the clutch is still jammed. So I'd like to go ahead and open the clutch casing. Planning to do this myself when I get the time.

- Is there oil in the clutch casing? The oil pump on my RX does not function, so I keep adding oil with petrol. When I open the clutch casing, will oil flow out?
- Any other pointers I'd need to know?

*Should I even be doing this? :lol*

Addicted to speed and torque. Suggest a bike for me

Hi Guys,

Let me start with some history and then the predicament in my mind!.

*Back in April 2002:* I was in my final year engineering. I always wanted to get a bike to replace my scooty which was almost in its final stages. Thanks to the floods in chennai, the scooty just refused to start. I had never driven a geared bike (or a scooter) before, hence decided to buy a Splendor which people said would be easy to learn and best suited for starters. I did buy it, learned on it. After a few months ( 8 months) when I got used to driving bikes! I felt the power was not enough. This was the time when the Pulsar DTSi version was launched. I dreamt of the P180DTSi (Gen-1 / DTSi). I forced my dad to sell my 8 month & 3000 kms old Splendor to get this beauty! It was stunning and wonderful little piece of machine that caught every person's immagination. I could easily hit 130/140 kmph on the beautiful ECR. That was when the speed deamon inside me was born and then nurtured over a period of 5 long eventful years. The bike had a huge sentimental attachment as it was with this bike that i meet my lady love. Ever since, pulsar had stated with me even after getting married to my lady love.

The love and passion for power and speed lasted long! But off late (early 2009) the bike started giving lotsa problems. The engine just stopped when I was doing 80 kmph/100 kmph in the highways. This was extremely dangerous and frustrating. I got the machine checked and serviced well at Kivraj motors. Though the service costed close to 5000 bucks, the engine was back to its prime condition.

But the problem did creep-up after 2-3 months. Apart from this, the bike lost its power and was pulling at lower gears. I understand it could be because of the carbon deposits but even after cleaning them it didnt seem to help. I didnt look or feel like my old pulsar anymore.More over, longish rides every day hurt my back because of the riding position. Now is when I found the P180DTSi being a burden. I decided to sell it and get some bike that was light, easy to commute and high on mileage.

This was the time when Discover DTSiSi was launched. I did a test drive and bought it without second thoughts as it more than satisfied my basic needs! The Discover DTSsi was more or less like the mini-pulsar cousin. I was and am satisfied with this bike!

But again!! after 2 months of using the discover, i found the speed daemon inside shift from my brain to my heart! Now that the daemon has peculated to my heart, i needed speed that I got addicted to with the P180DTSi. Hence I decided to keep the Discover for the longish office commutes! and buy either a P180/P220/ZMR/R16 that can satisfy the speed daemon inside me!

Guys the advice I am looking for is "Which Bike should I buy, speed is the criteria. Power & extreme torque that would satifsy me".

I feel so small driving the Discover! It is just the feeling that I have inside me!

Advice needed!
