At home you can buy a punching bag, and don't really have to hit it hard (unless you want to), but stay on your toes and keep moving with slight kicks and punches to the bag. that can make you sweat pretty fast, especially the kicks. my basement I like rough looks. There is also a stepping machine but I stand on the ground on opposite side just to hold it's handle and jog on the ground, much better. Wifey was supposed to use the stepper.![]()

| I wish to buy a treadmill. Motivation for buying one are : - Inertia of joining a gym. In the past 3-4 years, have joined one as many times, only to end up not going after a month or two for one reason or the other. - Irregular work hours. No routine. Sometimes I end up working the first half of the day in IST hours and the rest in US hours. Primary reason for my gym inertia. - Running outside is a great thing, and I am lucky to live right next to a quiet shaded area. Many people come here exclusively to jog/walk. But then, if I start running, I sweat like a pig and my glasses keep sliding off. Without them the world not within 1 foot of me is blur. At home, I can run sans my glasses, without having to worry about bumping into things. I walked into Champion Sports - Deccan, today morning to casually inquire, and was told about a few models, from the brand "Absolute". 1.5 HP one retailed at 33k and a 2 HP model for 45k. Can anyone tell me why a mere .5 HP difference should have this much of a cost difference ? |

| Those who are planning to buy a treadmill should seriously consider elliptical. When I was about to purchase a treadmill 6 months back, I changed my mind and bought an elliptical. The results have been pretty good. There are a few advantages in Elliptical IMO: 1. They are relatively maintenance free and looks like it will last longer than a comparable treadmill 2. It doesn't consume too much electricity and easily works on a 800VA home inverter. This is an important criteria if you live in an area which is prone to power cuts. 3. Due to some reason, I feel more fresher (fatigue free) after an elliptical workout (compared to running/jogging in treadmill). 4. Noise/vibration free - compared to treadmill By the way, I have a Sole E35 elliptical that I purchased for Rs.72500 last August. I have lost around 6 kg and I exercise for around an hour everyday. |

I bought Velocity VFT 380 plus last August for 23K at Hyderabad. Untitled Document Look for the features in the link. Taiwanese made but good stuff. Have been using it since August 2011 and it's a good one with auto incline and other features mentioned in the link.

AFAIK, both Elliptical and Treadmill costs almost the same - if you compare the similarly positioned models. For instance, Sole E35 elliptical & Sole F65 treadmill are similarly positioned and costs $1299 & $1199 respectively. This is true with the other brands like Proform, etc... But I read somewhere that low end ellipticals aren't that effective and it is better to avoid them. I am not sure about low end treadmills though.

| I bought a rowing machine 6 months back from the below site: Buy Cosco Rower (CRW-903) Online | PlayGroundOnline That time I paid Rs 10,021 (including shipping). I think they have now increased the price to Rs 12,380. I have found that it's a very good form of exercise. Better than tread-mill, I think. |

Hi Sandeep, could you share your experience after using the trainer. I am on the look out for a Elliptical trainer and was going for BF brand before stumbling in to your post. Could you tell me at what final price you paid for your stuff.

Infractions: 0/1 (5) | I was looking for a budget treadmill in Bangalore. Is it possible to get a pretty basic one within 15k? If yes, what would be the recommended brand and model. Also, what exactly would I be loosing by going for a budget one, as in, if some features are not available, what exactly could be the problem. Thanks in advance. |

| Team-BHP Support ![]() | Got this treadmill from Home Fitness Direct. BHPian Souljah is studying abroad, so his father helped me with genuine, unbiased advice. Payment made on Saturday and the Treadmill was installed yesterday. Seems like a very high quality unit. Build quality, fit & finish are top class. The swing-arm suspension really helps. It's far easier on your legs (knees in particular) than running on the road or on a run-of-the-mill treadmill (type I've been using at the gym for so long). The difference is immediately noticeable. I've been told to lubricate it every fortnight while the service is every 3 months. Service cost is nil during the warranty period (1 year) and Rs. 850 thereafter. |
