Default EDGE usage

For data transfer and internet browsing I think 'EDGE' is faster than GPRS.
Is it correct? Any other advantage?
I bought a xda mini s which has 'EDGE'. I would like to know which service provider will be better to use this facility/feature.( HUTCH OR AIRTEL) at Chennai.
Your views pl.
Thanks.

You are correct - EDGE is an enhanced version of GPRS (packed-based data services) and will offer you much better speeds. It is best that you stick to an operator who offers EDGE services. If both the abovementioned operators do offer EDGE, check out test SIMs from both, because actual data speeds would depend on network congestion, radio frequency optimization and a lot of other factors including who's got the most cell sites.

Have fun with your K-JAM/Mini S. Do let us know how useful that keypad really is.

Atleast for Mumbai,I know AirTel EDGE is much much faster than Hutch EDGE..
I have Hutch EDGE active on my cell since many months..and speeds suck.
My friend has AirTel EDGE and man..after browsing his,I would say his EDGE speed was atleast 4-5 X better than mine !!!!..and both of us have the same Nokia EDGE cell model too..

Thanks. I think with your input, I will try with Airtel first.
Need your help on these two pl.
(1) Is Xda mini s comes with 128MB memory card or we have to buy it?( mine does not have it)
(2) Specs. says 64MB Ram and 128MB Rom, that means max. we can put only 128MB or more? If we can put more than 128MB then why the specs. says only 128MB.
