I know you said Sony or JVC. I have some Sony headphones, they have lasted well but the sound is nothing special compared to some Sennheiser ones I tried in a shop last year. Have you had a look at what Sennheiser have to offer in your price range ?

yes I have had a look at some sennheisers,Bose and grado.

But the price range is high.

Sennheiser px100 is excellent but costs 80$

Bose starts from more than $150

Grado are not available easily.

Hence i have to stick to JVC or sony.

I just saw a store wit the same jvc headphones for $15. the price is tilting in the faour of JVC but am not sure yet.

I'd consider the Senheisser PX100
http://www.headphone.com/products/he...ser-px-100.php

or the AKG K26P
http://www.headphone.com/products/he...akg-k-26-p.php

or if you are really on a budget the Kozz KSC 55 or Porta Pro. The Porta Pro has been around for maybe a decade or more and is still a great buy.
http://www.headphone.com/products/he...oss-ksc-55.php

http://www.headphone.com/products/he...s-portapro.php

other headphones I would consider at this price are
the AKG 24P (little brother of the 26P)
http://www.headphone.com/guide/by-ap...akg-k-24-p.php

or the Senheisser 201 / 202 (they are sealed and can feel a bit warm after long use)
http://www.headphone.com/guide/by-ap...ser-hd-201.php

or the Senheisser EH150 also sealed but often available at deep discounts. I have seen them at $24.99.
http://www.headphone.com/guide/by-ap...ser-eh-150.php

hope this helps. either of these will easily outperform the JVC or Sony.

If price is a big concern look at Koss. The KSC55 is often sold at USD 15.

Yes the prices ARE canadian Dollars.

IF i keep everything aside.

IMy main need is headphones with loads of clear bass and crystal sound. My budget is limited too.

At present I am looking at

JVC HA-X570 ($15 us luring me to them)
Sennheisser PX100 (never heard such positive reviews about any product before)
and some grado's & Denon's.

Looks like I need to increase my budget for better quality headphones.

I'd say you'd need US$15 to get decent phones. For US$50 you can really get some nice sound.

I have Koss Portapro. They cost US$ 35 on Amazon. On the company site it is US$ 50. They are very good and have a nice bass. In the reviews they are compared to Senheisser PX100 and wins in many features. Portapros have very good bass.

Alritey,

I got myself the sony xd-200 first. Sounds really cool. worth the $40. total was $47 with tax.

but then sennheissers praise forced me to return the sony and go for the senn's

My 2 friends got the JVC just because they cost $15.CAD but lotsa hiss and distorted sound.

Now I have the senn's HD212pro. they cost me $80CAD. The total came to around $92 with tax.

I listened to Denon, Grado, Bose, AKG and many others. This particular Senn's sounded as if they were just woofers. Audible bass even after bass is set to lowest.

Now I am confused and I also think I am stupid for buying $92 worth headphones. Does any1 think that sony xd200 was a better choice?

I need a strong reason to keep Senn's 212 pro. At around Rs4000 or $92 CAD they are pretty expensive I think. but then I need good sound too. Sony xd-200 is not too bad at doing this job either but costs half the money at $47 or around Rs 1900.

so finally it boils down to this.

I again get sony xd-200 which are pretty decent for their price.
I keep the senn's.

please help.

Believe me the sony xd-200 are much better than px-100 for the price.

I went for the 212 purely for the bass. Man does it kick.

I have to select 1. either the 212pro or xony xd-200.

The 212Pro does have a lot of bass. i have heard the 212 but not the sony so i really cant offer you an honest opinion.

i find the 212pro sounds best with a tube amp say a 6V6 or EL84.

I just returned the senn's today.

I think I need to think over it for 2-3 days before I make the purchase.

These headphones are supposed to provide me with relif after whole days work. Hence the investment needs to be done very carefully.

I have heard both and I think I will stick with the xd-200 because all they loose out on is the bass. In contrast senn's loose out on the high frequency sound with the edge tipping at 18,000.

The ear cups of sony are more comfortable too. I know that sony is still not as good as Senns, Bose, Grado,AKG,Denon and others but you need to listen to the xd-200 to believe it.

Never before did I think that headphones can be such a valuble investment.

Above 18kHz few people can hear and in anycase hearing is very accurate at those freq. the comfort of a headphone is paramount. I prefer the over the ear open air headphnes as the others get too warm after prolonged use. The PX100 has one advantage over most phone in that it can be folded into the glove compartment or center arm rest (in the rear seat) of a car.
