Ricoh makes the R4 which has a 7x zoom (28-200) and is 5mp. as a bonus it has has decent optics and is almost compact enough to fit in your shirt pocket.

finally i bought the camera putting a full stop on the decision. i chose olympus UZ 500, 6 MP, 10X optical, 5X digital & a host of features. the camera cost me 14k & 1GB card was 3k. bought a sony rechargeable battery set for 600 along with it. the camera gives a good feel & very comfy on the grip.
