Dude! Race driver GRID is awesome. Just started playing it and does it beat the pants off the NFS franchise!

I am trying get my son into Age Of Empires instead of all those noisy cartoon network games.

I have legal Age of Empires III with me. I just realised that there are two expansions to it.

Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs
Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties

Where can I get it these games in the local market. Since I am away from any city, is there some online store in India where I can order it?

@samurai- good move- nothing like AOE to teach a kid about military history and strategy.
AOE III is the one based on the colonisation of the americas right? its not my favourite. purely because there are only 4 civilisations available to play.

or is it the one based on greek mythology?
AOE II and its expansions were much more exciting to me.

@meghan-AOEII is my fav.

for military strategy- the Total War series is very good- Medieval/Rome/Japan
it incorporates terrain, morale, the effect of momentum, everything. its extremely realistic.but its a bit too detailed for kids.

Also have a look at "Spore" from electronic arts. much more grander in scope, and extremely imaginative. takes you from a single celled organism stage to intergalactic warfare stage with everything in between.
maybe a bit childish for some people, but it is undeniably entertaining.

I have played right from AOE-I, AOE-II,AOM-AOE-III and their expansion except the WarChiefs and Asian Dynasties expansions.

That is Age of Myth, not AOE.

Yeah, AOE-II was very good. Best so far. As a history buff, I really love this series.

Hey Samurai, agree with you, AOE as a series is great stuff and you can p;lay it again and again, and its even better if you play it on the multiplayer mode. However I prefer age of mythology to AOE, just find it more interesting as a game, in terms of the storyline. I find AOE 3 good, but it gets much better with the expansion packs.

Glad to see guys/gals enjoy gaming. Everytime i start gaming, my mom goes "whats your age?"

Love strategy games and role playing.

Been gobbling up games (the older ones) everytime i see in Forum or Sapna.

Rise of Nations

Dungeon Seige - right now addicted to it. BEAUTIFUL graphics.

Homeworld 2 - Homeworld was such a fascinating game, but then lost the CD. She always sends my things to the attic where they get lost. I was ecstatic when i saw Homeworld2 in Sapna for Rs.300.
Highly recommend this space game.

Pharoah+Cleopatra - Played it way back in 2001, nice game. Again found it for Rs.300 and bought it.

Richard Burns rally

I bought a logitech momo steering for Richard Burns Rally. What I hate about it is the lack of feel from brake pedal and acclerator.
1. Accelerator: Too soft. A little more tension from a spring would have provided a better feeling.
2. Brake: Again too soft, I wish there was a progressive feeling. You can easily push it all in, locking up wheels.

It needs a entirely different seating position, maybe a visit to the carpenter?

My local software dealer was unable to locate these, a rare failure for him. I find it difficult to believe these are not available in India. That leaves me with Amazon.com and big shipping+customs charges.

While I was teaching my son to play AOE, I did run into some dilemma. The act of shooting individuals can be little graphic. When you attack villagers, especially women, they scream and squack realistically. As an adult gamer, you know it is just make believe, but to a kid it can be realisitic. Suddenly it made me wonder whether this is a good idea.

@samurai- how old is he, and what was his reaction? is there an option in the setting to turn off the village sounds? I think there is.
also- if you zoom out far enough, he wont see much of the blood either.
