Hey tsk... The people in my building get a discount on their internet connection. Wondering how?! Well, our building just so happens to have a reliance tower on it, and apart from the royalties or rent we get, they provide us free installation, free reliance phonelines (as in we dont pay any security deposits), etc. We did have to pay for the modem though. But though all of this sounds too good to be true, it's far from it. We already had a phoneline from reliance before we got our broadband conn. from them. But under the existing schemes available to us, we HAD to take another phoneline to avail the broadband connection. So we got our existing line disconnected and got a new one with the broadband conn. Thats when our problems started. We started getting abnormal charges from our first bill (they give an integrated phone cum broadband bill) itself. They started adding previous arrears, which they said was a mistake later on but still hasnt been rectified inspite of sittin in their office everyday! We obviously refuse to pay these rediculous arrears! and now it's added on to like Rs. 5,000 or something, which is pretty prepostuous! And they didnt do anything about it, so thats why we planning to disconnect it.
But one thing that is good is their prompt service (which is mabe cause we owners of the building on which their tower is on). My sis has taken the 100kbps unlimited conn. which they upgraded for free to 150kbps without any increase in the price.

A question... so many people here are ranting and raving about the 999 airtel's unlimited connection of 256kbps. By unlimited, do you mean an 'always on' connection or an unlimited upload/download connection? I would be interested in this offer if it's an unlimited upload/download scheme as I am a really heavy downloader. Another thing, hopefully I wouldnt have to take a airtel phone to avail this scheme would I?!

Godspeed.

Alok.

Hey Delhi Guys..

What is the recommended Broad Band Connection for Delhi..

In Hyderabad I had the 1 gb download limit, 256 kbps connection from Hathway..& was quite happy with it..

Just for general browsing, Video Chatting & occasional song Downloads ...

I need to make a choice between
1. Hathway Cable Internet Connection
2. MTNL BB Connection ( I have a MTNL Phone Connection at home already)
3. Airtel BB Connection..

thanks

I'm using a 2 Mbps (~256 KBps) connection in Hyderabad.

The scheme has a download limit of 2 GB per month, but bandwidth consumed between 23:00-6:00 (Night Unlimited) are not accounted. At night times, I get sustained download speeds of over 3 Mbps
Cost just 750 Rs/Month and the service is pretty good except for the crappy 24Online dialler which is required to connect to the services.

Currently :
Hathway cable, 1K a month.
512 up/down

Prior:
Used BSNL, 512 for 3 months (they had an introductory unlimited downloads offer). Got brilliant speeds off them, because the exchange was right next door

I have a Hathway connection in Delhi 256kbps 500mb/month.
The service is pathetic and their network crash in slight rains etc...

Would Recommend Airtel or Sify.

My friend has same capacity sify and it is twice fatser than Hathway..

Hathway ....Tauba Tauba...

In our area this is the option so I am not leaving it( As I have paid installtion charges also..so cant move soon)..

hey yol..
looks like loadz of ppl got airtel's service. the thing is tat their service is great, but the speed!!! horrible!! i mean ok i do get 30kBps constant most of the time(which IS great), but who wouldnt want more!!
You guys in delhi n hyd got awesome connections but again lot of u have downlaod caps during the day and tat's kinda bad for me cuz im a heavy downloader n almost never shut down my comp.
My speed bursts are upto 50 or so...(once 1.5 mBps!!) but i wan tat speed to stay...
Really want airtel to offer more bandwitdh packages to customers in blore.. and all over i guess..

@ghost

Tats alwayssss the case with reliance. AT first, their scheme look *WOW* and like u cant cheat them, but they'r jus too smart. Toooo many loopholes and a new meaning to the term "no strings attached"
