Congrats and enjoy !! I prefer also LT's with 12 or 13" screens more then that lol its a Desktop.

How much did you pay and firs impressions on build quality, battery specifications, scren brightness etc.. would be appreciated.

1. I payed 32K for it.
2.Build quality is good. Not great.
3.Perfomance =yet to try a game . Feels way faster than my 3.03 GHz P4 that also had a 1GB Ram
4.Screen at times gets a bit too bright.Its especially noticeable while viewing dark movie scenes.

32K for a 12.1" C2D lappy? Awesome deal! Which store did you buy it from?

The only major issue I see is the external DVD writer...is there a way to install an internal one, by paying extra?

The price sounds just too good for the config!

I would really prefer the external DvD Drive and yeah 32k is a awesome deal, where did ya buy it from?

Well performace will be great now as it is completely new, give it some time on the internet hehe

If you can, add another gig of ram and you will live happily ever after..(for another 1 year for sure lo l)

guys need help with a new laptop.....Which is better AMD 64x2 or Core 2 duo???????????
I'll be using it mainly for work and watching movies, may be games ...NFS CARBON....I have been an intel user for many years, but in laptops these don't come with garhpics card. but AMD does ocme with this and at quit a resonable rate??? so what should I go in for?
and what would be the price of such a system.

not true at all. there are intel gaming pc's too.

Asus G1S and G2S are excellent examples of Intel gaming pc's.

and amd does come with gpu's but are they strong enough to play NFS carbon?

My amd athlon is paired with ATI Xpress200m and it has trouble running NFS u2 at full settings.

guys I really wanted to know if any one has used AMD lappy and ,does it have any problems??????? I have used Intel core 2 duo for some time.... now am with out one so have to buy new one and there are good deals going around, so would really be helpful if any one has any intelligent info on this....thats it....
by the gaming laptop on intel platform are quit expensive, It always that I buy something and there is new product in the market in few month time and I want that one ,so do not want to spend too much on it...

Guys i have 2 laptops. LG and Dell. Thinking of disposing off LG laptop and getting a Compaq.

LG config is:
Celeron 1.3, 512 MB, Cd writer / DVD rom, 15' screen, 40 GB hdd.

Now i went to check out compaq laptops today. I liked 2 - 3 laptops from their range (all AMD's though). Now i have some questions regarding it.

Compaq Presario V6600 Notebook PC series Products & Services
I liked both the laptops in the above series:
V6604AU and V6608AU

Now V6604AU has AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TK-55 & V6608AU AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-58.

Whats the difference between these processors and which one is better to get ?

Compaq Presario V3611AU Notebook PC (GU020PA) specifications - HP Products & Services products

I will upgrade the memory to 1GB if the laptop has 512 and 2Gb if the laptop has 1GB pre installed. Not worried about getting pre installed windows and either ways i dont like Vista so i will install XP ASAP.

Turion TL58 is better.

Go in for Turion X2 (2 x 512KB Cache). It is better than Athlon X2 (2 x 256KB Cache).

If you let us know your budget, we can suggest something better.
