Yeah, Acer 4520 comes with Athlon X2, somewhere around 28-29k, it is real VFM

Ok just purchased Compaq F700

Config as follow:
1 GB RAM HP
1.9 Ghz X2 512 KB cache
DVD writer
1.3 megapixel camera with microphone inbuilt
120 Gb hDD
HD Audio and Video
Wifi
MMC reader etc DVD writer

Also went to check Acre 4520. It was good but compaq ppl gave me a good deal.

Pros over Acer 4520:
15" display
got a better Processor 10 MHZ more LOL
1.3 mega pixel inbuilt camera and mic

cons compared to acer:
no bluetooth. not a problem as i have a dongle but they could have given it lol
no windows pre installed. not a con for me coz i like XP and hate VISTA
no one touch buttons

But overall i got 1 year insurance with compaq + they took my old laptop for 9k where as acer guys were giving no more than 6K

How much did you pay, hows the build quality compared to the acer4520? and how much does it weigh?

Paid 31k (22k in cash and 9k as in old laptop), build i feel Compaq is same as acer didn't feel any difference but Compaq demo model was also silent and cooler then Acer though.

Weighs 2.8 KG's i think.

How is the Acer Aspire 4920 @ 43k?? Is this a good lap top and at a good price point?

I have very basic layman knowledge about computers .. and I need to buy one immediately. I am looking at this or the Dell XPS 1330(looks very good - though the specs seem lower)

I was wondering how the Tablet that Viper bought compares to these two.

What resale price can I expect for a 3 year old Compaq Presario 2100US with the following config:

AMD Athalon 2800, 80GB HDD, 512MB RAM, CD writer, spare battery. Looks similar to the image below.

If everything is working fine, I guess you would get around 8-9k

60GB 7200rpm HDD,
15in 1600x1200 LCD,
128MB ATI FireGL V3200,
CD-RW/DVD-R Multi-Burner,
Intel 802.11abg wireless, Bluetooth/Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure Chip, Fingerprint Reader, 6c Li-Ion, WinXP Pro

It's in excellent condition (nearly as new), with practically no marks on it at all. I have all the booklets, accessories that came with the laptop except the box.

I am looking at replacing the above with a sub portable laptop. How much I can get for the above will decide on what to replace it with (thinking of going with Dell M1330 vs Sony SZ vs Apple Macbook (just to be different)).

Can an expert help?

Sold mine for 9K. with Celeron M, 40 GB, 512 MB ram.

A new 14.1inch Celeron M Acer pebble laptop with DVD combo, wireless blah blah can be bought in Bangalore for 21k all inclusive with carrybag and warranty, so used laptops are dead cheap these days.
