Gadgets, okay great...but I am fed up with the their chargers getting tangled up with each other and many times with themselves.

Life would be perfectly fine.

Since you have been roaming all over India, have you been to a place in the rural areas and the countrysides? You should if you haven't yet. You will be surprised to see how people here live happily and cheerfully without any of these hi-fi stuff and gadgets. I am not sure how it is in the rural areas of EU and other countries but in a developing country like India, things such as an LCD TV, WiFi, smartphone etc. are considered to be a luxury not a necessity. Can you live with them here? Depends.

Let us not derail the thread anyway. Why don't you post the day-to-day stuff you use?

Yes, I have and my main worry is always where do I plug in my various chargers! I mean even my torch has rechargeable batteries.

Not much of a gadget guy, but here is my list.

Samsung 42" LCD - Watch only while having dinner.
PS3 120 GB - Occassional weekend gaming
iPhone 4 - Daily phone
iPhone 5s gold - Booked one, awaiting delivery
Dell AIO - Personal computer installed at office

Now looking to invest in good speakers within range of 10k.

Mine must be the shortest list of the thread so far:

1. HP Probook - my office laptop, usually stays in office all the time. When in office, it is hooked up to a 24-inch LED monitor (HP).
2. Sony Vaio - my personal laptop
3. Samsung Galaxy Note smartphone

Like Jeron mentioned, just the bare essentials. I do have two external HDDs, but I haven't put them in the list since I use them purely for backup, i.e., they are not in use daily.

Let me revive this thread.

1. Dell Vostro. For personal use and work. It gets to sleep only when i sleep.

2. Acer desktop with 19" LCD. For personal use. Use it rarely.

3. Spice Mi 425. Dual sim phone for everything.

4. Creative speakers when i listen to music once in a bluemoon.

5. A Sandisk 8GB pendrive when i need to transfer data. Rarely.

6. 32" Moser Baer LCD TV. I watch only when nobody is at home. Probably one hour a week. Hell, even that is overestimated.

My Vostro is giving me some trouble since morning. The diagnostics test tells it's a hardware issue. I was actually googling about that and i bumped into this thread. Let's see if i can get it fixed or i am planning to buy the HP Pavilion 14".

I also need to get a wireless router to use wifi, will probably go for Netgear.

Need to update the list with 2 more additions.

Vizio S3821 Soundbar - Vizio's 38 inch 2.1 channel soundbar. Amazing sound with great clarity and bass. Really worth the money.

Roku 3 - Bought this as I didn't have enough streaming devices so far .

Pentax K-x
My only camera. Use it for all kinds of photographic needs.

I realize this is an old thread, but I recently setup the Raspberry Pi as my media center but have found that I'd have to use a powered USB hub to power things like external hard disks. Just wanted to know if you purchased one of these powered USB hubs or if you're running an externally powered hard drive.

You are right. Raspberry Pi can't provide power to a external HDD from it's own. You have to plug your HDD to externally powered USB hub and plug the hub into pi.
