Easy solution.

Go to the game section of a web site like www.play.com and click on a game that looks interesting. It lists what the games age rating under the technical details area of the page. Then just buy it from the "multi system" retailer.

Also try out www.gamespot.com and www.ign.com . Really good reviews.
I cant really think of too many games for a 6 year old. The few that come to mind are : Katamari Damacy
Lego Star Wars
These shouldnt really be too hard to find. Though in case you arent able to get them i will make a copy and give them to you the next time you are in bangalore

Hey thanks for the offer - I will do so. I was planning to visit National Market in Majestic this time around but one thing led to another and I really didnt have the time to check out those "multi system" vendors...

Steeroid, buddy ive a couple o kids in that age group and believe me they can play. my kids love tekken series, i.e. tekken 4-5-6 or even tekken tag.
Re ps-2 not accepting all region dvds, well yes. go to musafirkhana and 500/- bucks & an hour later, play any damn game from any region any system. U can even buy the games for 50/- to 75/- bucks from there.
Alternatively go to heera panna and pay double for the mod chip.

Anyone who wants to buy XBox/PS2/Gamecube games - I guess they are cheap and with 1 day exchange guarantee at Alpha,at Vile Parle.They also have a pretty good collection for all consoles.
I buy XBox games for Rs70 each..I think PS2 games are for around Rs40-Rs50/game..
All games I've bought so far(around 22),all of them worked well,no need for any exchanges.

And what do u think abt XBOX 2? And how much it would cost.

I am soon going to buy a PS2 for myself. I know, its a bit outdated with PS3 and XBOX 360 in the market, none the less, PS2 is more than enough for me.

I would like your sincere advice:

1. Does PS2 come in different configurations (like CPU clock speed, memory etc.)

2. Can PS2 play pirated game cds?

3. What is the default number of game controllers given with the box?

4. What other precautions/points i should keep in my mind while buying the PS2.

5. Can i connect my PC monitor to PS2 and play games on PC instead of TV?

Your honest suggestions are welcome.

Not to the best of my knowledge, which is limited to being Duboy's first line of support

2. Can PS2 play pirated game cds?

Yes, you need to fix what they call a "multi-system chip" which costs less than Rs.500. I am officially against piracy, and I consider Sony's pricing of games to be a sort of piracy in itself - they're out to loot us

3. What is the default number of game controllers given with the box?

Depends on the pack - some packs come with one, some with two, some come with all accessories like memory chips and standard convertors, some even come pre-packaged with a game(s) and controllers.

4. What other precautions/points i should keep in my mind while buying the PS2.

Buy from Sony so you're assured of the fact that you're getting a brand new unit and not a refurbished/repaired unit, usually from Dubai. But remember that the moment you put in the 'multi-system' chip that allows you to play all games your warranty is void

5. Can i connect my PC monitor to PS2 and play games on PC instead of TV?

Never tried it, but I assume that it can be done if you have the right connector.

@Gordon The lesser evil is PS3. XBOX is facing too many issues. Looks like the designers cut on quality to meet schedules. Their power supply is improperly designed causing heatups etc., I would steer away from such a product

As of now,PS3 hasn't been released as yet..but XBox 360 is out.Specifications of PS3 are better than that of Xbox 360..
I have an XBox,and decite,I would recommend Xbox against the PS2..much better graphics..you can get the XBox chipped for around Rs700-Rs1500,depending on the type of mod chip you fit in.
I haven't faced any issues with the XBox since the time I bought it..I got it from States,and bought a 220/110V convertor here for around Rs400,and it plays games perfect.
Original XBox games sell for anything between Rs1400-Rs3000 per game,while pirated games sell for around Rs70/game.
Pirated PS2 games sell for around Rs50/game.
You can take your choice..both ,PS2 and Xbox are good..but I prefer the XBox.
If you're planning for XBox 360,then I would suggest to wait for PS3,since it's gonna be better than the 360.
