I use amd athlon 4000+ socket 939 in my notebook. Its a Desktop cpu in a notebook.

gives me 4-5 hours battery life and never gets hot.

All you need are the right cpu drivers and gpu drivers(for dedicated gpu)

it was the old architecture (I guess k8 but do google up) that got hot. Indian dealers are still stuck on the same note.

As of today Amd has beaten intel up and down. Intel earnings have falled 57%.

Amd is king until Intel brings out the Merom this August to shut AMD up for good.

AMD sempron 2500+ is not 2.6GHz.
If thats what the dealer told you, he cheated you.
Otherwise its an amazing processor, but then you can always go back to him screaming and ask for a 64bit or a dual core.

Default Increase the FSB frequency

This might help.. Go to your BIOS settings n increase the FSB frequency.. See the max freq that ur motherboard supports and set it.

Ya the older k8 used to get very hot, but now the story is different. I have a vdo download from a site TOMSHARDAWARE. they are comparing older intel and amd cpus, if the cpu heat sink is removed the intel goes into shut down mode thus saving itself from damage but when amd heat sink is removed it goes into fumes....lol

This is a very old story now amd have changed a lot I myself using a 3200+ running at 2 ghz. It runs very cool not heating up is seen.

The recent launch of intel core 2 processor and they are taking out sweat of amd's people. and amd has reduced there prices at average of 51%. let us see what amd has to offer against the core 2 of intel.......

As of now Amd is still the king.

As soon as the merom is launched, Amd better hide and start working on their new platform which they say will step on Merom. price is all that can work in turion x2's favour.

I wouldnt spend on the merom if the diff is more than 250$ which is highly likely.

Which notebook is this buddy and how many cell(6/9/12) battery ???

Generally Desktops CPU's tend to take more power than their mobile counterparts and if i understood your reply correctly, 4-5 hr batery autonomy is much more than a Centrino/Turion could give.

Could you please give the notebook details

wireless on and connected.
Working on project work, chatting with friends and music on winamp.

hey buddy, I know what hibernation is. lol but my notebook does it from switching on to complete loading of the desktop with the mouse stable.

Actually half the junk on windows xp is not needed. clean all that up. mated to the Athlon 4000+ that's not hard. My desktop is clean except for the recycle bin, no programs at startup and my sysyem tray has 4 icons only.

There are people who have a boot time of hardly 7-8 secs on their notebooks.
