I got an Airtel Digital Video Recorder (HD - DVR) installed today as a second multi-connection. I went for Airtel after reading so many reviews. And I am glad.

The HD channels it offers (10) are brilliant. Awesome. Movies Now, History, Colours they look marvellous in HD. And moreover, watching anything in HD (specially Colours serials) have no break.

Hello folks,

I have been watching TV on Hathway SD STB since a year now. Of late seeing this Hathway in HD being displayed in the menu screen which says to send a SMS to get more details about HD in your city.

Has anyone in Bangalore checked out Hathway HD? If yes, please share the experience. Eager to watch HD content on my Full HD LCD TV.

please recommend a good HD recorder , in terms usability , PQ and price.
I have narrowed the search down to Tatasky HD+ or airtel HD recorder .

I prefer TS+ because of the better service but airtel HD recorder had more channels and seems to be cheaper as i am already using airtel normal box.

If you are already using airtel, it makes sense to upgrade to their HD box, as their will be some discounts for existing customers.(unless there is serious problems in their HD recorder box)

I am planning to upgrade from my Tata sky SD connection to a new HD connection.
Main reason being lack of tamil channels and other reason is i bought a samsung 42" plasma TV and picture quality is not that good in Tata sky SD.

Should i go for Videocon D2h or Airtel HD?
I heard that Reliance is having the best PQ but poor customer support.
Is it the same case with Airtel also?
Please suggest me the best one.

I took this tata sky connection 4yrs ago(i think) mainly for watching India-Australia cricket series down under.
Quite happy with the service so far but lack of tamil channels and also the poor packages made me think about changing it.As of now i have taken Ala catre pack with 20 channels only but still paying close to 250rs/month.

I have Tata Sky HD+ at Hyderabad and Airtel (non HD) at my Ghaziabad home.

Menu etc. are easier to use on Airtel and preview functionality is better.

Also from what I know, Airtel has more HD channels.

As far as service is concerned - this is something that hardly every requires service.

congrats

I would suggest you look at the annual plans - they are a little expensive but include freebies and total peace of mind

By the way, I wonder why is it that Tata Sky is not matching Airtel in number of HD channels

Thats true, hardly requires anything to be done on it, firmware updates are over the air, recharges are on the internet, changes to the packs and add-ons are also on the internet.

Airtel has more flexibility in terms of the package and channels and for me the desired channels including HD ones were coming at a cheaper monthly subscription compared to others and btw forgot to mention it uses the latest DVB2 technology which means better clarity and picture.

update for people using sky hd+. Tata Sky has launched something like netflix with HD+ boxes. Internet connection with minimum 512kbps speed is required for the same, a host of titles in English, Hindi and regional languages are available apart from music concerts and popular soaps. No charges for month of December but would be charged 25 per title from January onwards.

If you are the one to switch on your TV today morning, then you would have noticed the software upgrade, which activates the LAN port for internet connection.

All the titles are available under VoD.

Tata Sky launches VoD service on Sky+ HD platform
