2.I am used to psp and ps2 , played games on xbox too and find myself comfortable with that console also.
3.xbox offer - 15k , with 4 games , memory card to be bought separately ,1+2 years warranty
4.ps3 for 23k , 2 games,1 year warranty
5.No plans of watching movies on ps3 , it will be used only for gaming.
6.will be using only the original dvd's

from the deal i am getting I would prefer the ps3 , even though it is 6 k more expensive.I was wondering if waiting for ps3 80gb release would be worth a wait as it can pull the prices down of both the xbox and ps3.and then later on maybe I can get a 40gb ps3 with a price close to 20k.

Also would like to have your suggestions on which one to buy.Just a few major advantages of both the consoles would be good enough.

@manav : is the orange blinking light covered under warranty.
Yes it is, contact me as you are from Pune as well I know a guy who WILL give you the best price.

Other than the HDD size, is there any difference between the 2 consoles?

The guy also mentioned that XBOX supplies have dried up.
As said before about the differences, but I was not aware the 80GB was officially sold here, I have a 80GB which was the launch model and it blew up on me. Right now on my official bill warrenty 40 gigger. I feel the 40GB is really cheap compared to my old one. The build feels worse and the metal parts are matte finish compared to my glossy 80GB and the PS3 logo is also dull in this one, the other one has a lovely chrome logo. The whole idea about 40GB and 80GB should not be the deciding factor as the HDD can be easily swapped and you can just use your USB drive on it.

Is it essential to have a net connection while setting up a PS3 for the first time?

absolutely not - you can even download updates offline and apply via a usb key. I used my first PS3, without a net connection for 6 months

Got the 40gb. Hooking up to the HT was uneventful. The remote is pretty handy. Played CD, ripped mp3, region 5 dvd and BD games. Connected via USB and accessed/played media on my PSP. Now a few queries.
- is there any way it can be made to play dvd's of all regions?
- the pre-loaded firmware version is 2.1 .. What is the latest? Where can I download it from?
- does Sony now provide any updates that would enable connecting the PSP to the PS3 via BlueTooth?

Anybody on XBox-Live with Halo-3 this weekend ?

On Sunday morning, 390,000 players were online, & 90,000 were in Social-Slayer alone !

Sweet !

Just a quick question guys? Do you know if an XBOX 360 I bought here in the UK will work in India?

I vaguely remember reading something about getting a new power adaptor. If that's the case, I won't carry the *heavy* adaptor with me when I come back. Will there be any issues with NTSC/PAL?

UK and India are both PAL so that shouldn't be a problem. I have a couple of UK games and those work fine.

No idea about power adaptor etc.

Now that E3 2009 is done & dusted, I guess there's nothing but good news waiting for 360 gamers

Halo:ODST was expected, but Halo:Reach was a complete surprise (though due for a 2010 release), add ForzaMotorsport-3, Dirt-2, BioShock-2, & ModernWarfare-2 & its pure gaming heaven (not-to-mention a budgeting nightmare) post September !

you wont have any issues with the ntsc/pal settings as all tvs are multi-system, but do remember that xbox360 games are region coded (unlike ps3).The xbox power adapter may not be universal (unlike ps3) so you will need to get a 230v power adapter in india. I had bought my xbox 360 in singapore and it worked fine as far as power goes, however games bought in india did not work on the singapore xbox. Best option is to order games online from playasia.com, etc. as per your xbox region. My PS3s on the other hand had no issues with power or games as the power supply is universal and PS3 games are not region coded.

Happy Gaming !!

Well i have used every playstation console and even this time with PS3, it's a bit better than XBOX 360. Intense gameplay, better graphics and the more versatile and universally accepected and offcourse future technolgy Blu-ray disc support speaks for itself.

The games i own are:
Grand theft auto 4
Medal of honour airborne
Battelfield: Bad company
Heavenly sword
Killzone 2
The little big planet
Bionic commando

And all are the best. The latest being bionic commando. You guys mite wanna look into it.
