Try scanning your PC again with some other antivirus. ESET is not what it used to be 2 - 3 years back. A lot of problems with NOD32 now.

Though i used McAfee Total Security on my cousins laptop for some days and i was amazed how McAfee have shaped things up.

Antivirus softwares i liked. (In Order of Preference)

1. Kaspersky
2. Antivir Professional
3. McAfee
4. Symantec Endpoint (You will be amazed this antivirus is from the same group which still releases the memory hog Norton 360)
5. ESET

Even though Antivir is same in detection as Kaspersky but Kaspersky is better when it comes to interface and usability.

FREE ones:

1. Antivir
2. Antivir
3. Antivir
4. Avast

I used to use AVG but it cannot be compared with Antivir Free edition. Antivir and Avast is anyday better than AVG.

Talking about free softwares, are Spybot-S&D and Ad-Aware any good?

Currently using Bit Defender 2009.

Previously my system ran Kaspersky. Changed the AV as I got the crack for the latest version of Bit Defender and not Kaspersky

In terms of the best bet, I mean:

1. Does not hog system resources (though since I will install only on the server, will this still be a pain point?)
2. Is VFM
3. Is good at catching those viruses!
4. Does it include anti-spam as well? Plan to get a majority of my guys on Outlook express through the Windows Suite.

Would love to hear your opinions and thoughts. I dont want to move ahead to firm up our IT infrastructure until I get a good solution to this.
Do the technophiles here have an answer? Have been doing some research...but nothing conclusive being thrown up apart from the usual suspects - Norton/Mcafee etc.

Bit Defender is good but then again it uses more memory than Kaspersky.

I ve been using Avast - Home edition for the past 4+ years. No frills- Just does the job. I am quiet happy about it.

The best part is that it's FREE !!!

Cheers,

Is it recommended to use more than one antispyware software?

I have been subscribing to McAfee virus protection of my laptop for the past 3 years. It offers good protection since I haven't gotten infected even once in these 3 years but it makes the system slow and the scan time is huge and features are spotty. They are as usual offering the next years subscription at a discount at $49 but I want to explore for alternatives.
Have heard Kapersky is good and saw some claims that it being offered for < Rs.1000 here, is this true? I can see from their India site that they are charging Rs.1500 for an year.
Another thing is, I have been running Avast free edition on my desktop for about an year now and have faced no visible virus infection so far. If its really safe I would like to try this on my laptop too.

Computer Warehouse Online - Buy Computers, Computer Parts, Computer Accessories, Laptops and Electronics ... there you go... 3 user Kaspersky available for 695/-

I use Kaspersky and I am very happy with it. Please google more for 'Best Anitvirus' etc - you can then compare..

Thanks, I know this shop, I have bought all the parts for my assembling my desktop from him only but didn't know he sold software other than OS.
I have known about kaspersky for some time so don't have any doubt.

I use Avast version 4.8 Home Edition. Used to use AVG 8, but found it tends to slow things down a bit.
