Default Bitdefender all the way

Being a guy who loves my laptop to the microchip, I have gone through almost all the major AV software available.. Here are my takes for what they are worth..

1) McAFEE- A Mistake from the start.. has an uncanny abolity to keep annoying you with some issue or the other with its system files. Do not recommend.
2) F-Secure: OK- but has a slow start, slower scan speed and drags your system down.
3)Norton: Good integration with your OSes, and good catch rate.. scan speeds a bit slow I feel.
4)Nod32: A personal favourite, worked well for me for a year, but then had a desire to try out something newer..
5)BitDefender: My Current AV - works nicely.. not processor hungry, and good scan and pickup rates.Updates are frequent and decent.
6)AVG: The better one among the free AVs
7)Kaspersky: Ised it for a year, and not many problems- but one troubling issue was the slooow update

Among the pack- I would suggest sticking to Bitdefender>Kaspersky>Norton.

NOD32 is the lightest. Those flash drive based pesky viruses not found by norton, mcafee and kaspersky were detected and cleaned by NOD32 without a fuss.

kaspersky. I've been using this since jun 09 - No issues. Earlier to this I used to purchase Norton every year - But always felt that it slows down the system.

I would recommend kaspersky

I am using Quick Heal since the last 2 years. It is ok, but of late, I have noticed some problems with the I.E which 'hangs' occassionaly.IMO the anti virus has a clash with it.. I have to confirm the same.

Hi

Quick heal and Norten are fine but they are expensive. They make the system slow.

F-secure seems good and gives protection but very slow start.
earlier, I used the Norten which was good and prefer to change to Norten again.

I have used Norton for the last 10 years & when I started using avast, i realised that Norton is only a grand name, that is all. Avast cleaned up & speeded up my system real good.

ESET NOD32 is a good one , less on resources. Good for netbooks & low end configuration machines
