Nikki,
I have read your original post and also all the other posts in this thread.

I have seen most of the models recommended and I would say that your real choice falls between just two of them. The Treo 650 and the Treo 700W.

As a Treo 650 user I can only say that all other devices suck.

It meets will all your requirements including the original handwriting recognition technology, Graffitti.

Venkat

PS: Price in Mumbai is about 22K with additional stylus and one 1GB expansion card.

Treo 700W, right now is only shipped for Verizon and Sprint networks in NA. It is expected to be launched by Vodafone in the future.

How is the speed of Treo 650?

Default hi guys

Steeroid, Well... so you say 3G is important like EDGE?!! What is the diff between these two??!!
As of now, from the reviews the main criterias I've set are as follows
(1) An intel or equaly good Processor with above 400Mhz.
(2) Min Quadband with EDGE!
(3) Win OS.

Let me know your opinion on this and if sounds good... pl advice a good model!!

Venkat, I have downloaded Treo 650's info and found it with Palm OS, 312 Mhz pro!! Am apprehensive of these two!! Howz the 'speed' of this device?! Am unable to find 700w!! Cud you pl help?!! Thanks in advance.
Guess Satish want to say that its unavailable in India as of now!!!!
Pl comment

Thanks again guys!!

HTC Hernes aka Imate Jasjam aka O2 Treo has all the feature you are looking except for the big vga screen.

Edge is 2g network and is much slower compared to 3g. You will get speeds as good as broadband with 3g.

If my knowledge is correct, UMTS and HSDPA are two different bands of 3G. Jasjar supports only the first and Jasjam support both of them.

Congrats - whatcha doing with your Atom? Tactile numeric keypad is nice but I'd much prefer to have my Pocket PC keypad with predictive dialling (D9) so when I have to call Navin I just key in 6-2-8-4-6, or just type in 6-2-8 and watch the screen give me all the matches.....

Called you a few months back, remember? Anyway that isnt your number but how you dial it 6=n, 2=a, 8=v, etc just like you use t9 for texting.

Anyway this is how D9 works:

So you turned it off? This, in my very humble opinion, is what makes the pocket pc so user friendly - one handed dialling has never been easier.

Something tells me your Atom was very under-utilized. Give a dog a bad name etc etc....

I agree. the Atom had a lot of stuff that I did not know how to use and had did not have the one thing i needed (a tactile numeric keypad). it is not a bad phone which why i still recommend O2 phones but it was not for non-techies like me

techies will find windows phones very nice but guys like me who are bred on palm and apple where everythig just works without a lot of fiddling get hammered.

BTW in my opinoin the P990 seems better built than the Atom. it has a nice docking station etc.. and the keyboard is even nicer than the P910i which I borrowed to see if I'd like the P990. Just my opinion. I'm no gadget guru.

Also we have hijacked Nikki's thread! Poor Nikki. Sorry Nikki.
