Question Anyone travelling from Singapore to Bangalore early September?

I wanted to know if anyone on this forum would be travelling from Singapore to Bangalore sometime early September? I am planning to get an accessory for my car and was looking for someone who wouldn't mind hand-carrying it. Thanks!

please mention what the accessory is. Since you are saying "hand carrying", I am asssuming its gonna be small and light and will be part of cabin baggage.

If shipping through FedEx, DHL or such, expect to pay the duty on your purchase price + freight price. So if cost was $500 and freight was $50, expect to pay duty @ roughly 38% on $550.

The only exceptions are if:
- The customs guys accidentally ignore it (rare, though it does happen)
- You have a relative carry this into the country

@gunbir --- Isnt there a lower limit of 5,000/- for electronic items?

I heard that items below 5K are not charged customs duty.

Even if an electronic item that costs 10$ enters the country, will duty be charged on it ?

Just visited DHL, $90 per kg to Bangalore .

It makes no sense buying anything in US shipping it here and paying customs etc etc.

Best thing to buy is second hand dvd/audio cds on ebay. Its worth it.

If seller send the item via their postal service USPS then you don't have to pay any duty , only downside is that you'll won't able track your parcel & there's no definite date when your parcel will reach (Dhl takes 3 days only ) .

I bought one MP3 Player embedded-headset from ebay.uk. It was to be delivered in Amsterdam, but due to some delay in shipping. Seller could not deliver it to me before I left. So agreed to deliver in India at same cost 8 Euros. Received here fine, but charger adapter was bit damaged. On complaint seller sent the charger at no cost.

Headset was of 150 euros.
