i got my pv80 from there for 72k. But given all the reports you expect a pv8 for high 50s and pv80 for mid 60s. Also make sure they dont give you a showroom piece like they did with me (i had to get to panny regional mgr to get mine changed to fresh stock)

good luck!!

^^I got a last quote of 58K for the PV8 and the salesman refused to budge beyond that. I did not pick up the set as i thought i will think it over, reason:

I do not have Tata sky or other DTH service and still use the services of regular cable guy. Now after the demo, I was wondering how bad the reception would be on this kind of a TV instead of my 21" CRT TV.

I was told that we can fit a cable signal booster device and then the reception quality will improve. I do not want to go in for any DTH service if it can be avoided.

Please advice if the quality will suffer a lot using normal cable reception on a 42" Plasma TV, and if the booster device makes a difference.

@RAC check out if your cable provider can provide it through set top box. Also try out Modern Electronics on Airport Road he had quoted 56K for PV8 and 62K for PV80 2 weeks back

Just checked with the Pana dealers in Koramangala Bangalore and their quote is 66.5k for PV80 and 59K for PV8, both with free 1.5m HDMI cable. Not sure if this can be brought down. Need to check with some more dealers before finalising.

Btw, Panasonic 42 PV7's are selling cheap. Stock clearance I guess.

My brother got one for 45K from eZone + 1.5m HDMI cable free. And it's not the demo piece.

looks like Bangalore dealers are taking us for a ride. We have atleast 2 people report that they have got PV80 between 55.5k - 58k.

I'm also on the lookout for PV80 and we seem to have few others from Bangalore who are interested, can we form a group and try negotiating for a better deal?

My PV8 is having one option of selecting refresh rate in main menu between 50 and 100 hz, not sure if it refers to 100 hz refresh rate TV or what other owners can clear it over here.
Bought 1.5 meter long HDMI cable for 500 bucks(grey maal) and connected my DVD player and turned the upscaling on now the original print DVD's are coming like what showroom guys shows in showroom as a demo DVD or Blue Ray discs .

About HDMI cable, I wanted a HDMI cable for my plasma when I bought it. But the dealer whom I bought my Plasma from, quoted me a whopping 1900 bucks for the cable which came in a pretty box with a cloth surround & looked very suspicious to me. The box said, made in China.

Later I went to Nehru Place & bought that very same cable(no difference at all) sans the fancy box for just 325 bucks! Now is that value for money or what. I know that it may not be of a very great quality, but works for me.

What you say seems true. Someone has asked a member from Hyd to scan and upload a copy of the invoice of his purchase so that we can bargain better.

I am still waiting for advice/feedback of members on using regular cable service on 42" Plasma TV. If there are no such issues, count me in for PV8.

i think the picture quality will definitely improve if cable TV is viewed through an STB, this is true with the normal CRT and i don't think it will differ in a Plasma.

I'm interested in getting a 40" - 46" television. Budget is about 1L (80K to 1.2L).

I want Full HD. Picture quality is my biggest requirement. No shady brands like LG, Videocon etc.

I'll be using this for movies as well as t.v., but I can be more forgiving with the t.v. picture quality. DVDs better look amazing. BlueRay playback has to be fantastic.

I'm considering both plasma and LCD. So far I've considered the Sony LCDs (V and W) in both 40" and 46", as well as the Samsungs (Series 5 and 6). Which are the best full HD plasmas out there (42" or 47")?

Looking for your suggestions.

i think the series 6 would fit into your budget perfectly. but its upto you to decide which tvs picture you like more between the bravias and the series 6.

I am hunting for a 26 inch TV for my room. Checked with Sony (S series), Samsung (4 series) & LG models. When comparing Sony & Samsung, though Sony had 15000:1 contrast and Samsung with 5000:1, Samsung looked good and less expensive. Does this dynamic contrast play a very important role in picture clarity or is it just to bring the black & white spots look original.
