I even got a full HD 1080p video played on this. It played flawlessely and pictures were as sharp and crisp with a full HD tv (which were also playing them at the same time).

Now I am totally confused about this 480p / 1080p thing. Should I believe my eye OR is there anything silly about a 32 plasma?
Plasmas are way better than LCDs so yes samsung 4 & 5 series will not look as good. I am starting to suspect, this lg plasma has a 480p panel, but takes in 1080p signals and adjusts them. In which case it will be a good deal.
Can you confirm, if it is a 480p panel or a 480p tv.

I bought a Samsung 40" 650 (6 series) about a fortnight back. It took me about a day or two go adjust the colour and other settings to the level I was comfortable with. I am loving it. Especially the Planet earth DVDs I watch are wonderful on this TV. Even though my hall is a little small for a 40", I decided to take this plunge and I am not regretting it at all. As you have rightly mentioned, it cost me about 86K at Devi. It was around the same time when half of the people over here were hunting for Panny PV80

not here, the cheapest the pv7 is retailing here is for 45k, unless untill there is a backlog of stocks with a certain dealer the price wont come down that much.

Though the price is 56k, the bill given by Devi is for 58.5k I guess.

This is true in my case too. I got the 650 for 86k and the bill was for much more than that. I am always wondering how they make money.

Hi, had a chance to check out this LG 32 inch Plasma at the E-zone outlet ( Future Group ) opened in Chennai recently. I was'nt impressed with the picture clarity at all.

On the other hand, I got a great deal on a 32 inch Sanyo LCD TV ( 1366 x 768, 7000:1 Contrast ratio and 2 HDMI Inputs ), for Rs. 24,999/- They also threw in a free LG mobile phone ( which I'm yet to receive ). This Sanyo panel is made in Indonesia and is good value for money. The picture clarity is way ahead of the LG plasma too and works great on a DVD player with HDMI connected.

Their setup and running costs are lower than other showrooms with very high rent and also they focus on volumes keeping very less margin on the items.

they have loads of margin in between da, am pretty sure devi must have earned atleast 10% even at that amazing price of 56k.

guys, small doubt, when they bill it up higher, wont we(company billing) or they (individual billing) be able to claim a higher % of VAT back?

no issues, cos the price is a very good one, here my regular dealer, who had offered me the pv80 for 56k, is refusing to believe that it available for even 58.5k outside.

And in addition to that, I believe they must be having slab-based incentives, so that if they achieve a certain target, they become eligible for higher commission per piece sold.

That was a hell of tips and suggestions over there ! I really appreciate it. After reading it, I am again put back to the confused gang of LCD Vs Plasma I know its a tough decision now since you have lightened all the drawbacks of a Plasma in a very attractive way ! By the way, I will never connect my PC into the screen, my regular usage is Tatasky and a home theatre (Sony 5.1)with VCD and DVD as of now, may be an upgrade of home threatre later on.

Plasma will save money right at the time of buying, plus on the power over a period of time as you mentioned, I am still researching on that. I have 10 days to get confusions cleared. Now reading about both Plasma and LCD.

got a Samsung 32" 650 series full HD for Rs.56500
This piece is worth every bit i have spent. watching DVDs is a dream... will get a blueray DVD player soon to have even better experience.
Also the USB wise link is a advantage ove the sony W series. who needs a 7" or 11" digital picture frame when you have this.
One advice - always use the digital input from the likes of Tata Sky or Dish TV or Airtel to get the best picture. Discovery channel, nat geo, history other english movie channels provide you the best picture quality.

All PV80 owners or for that matter anyone who wants to enjoy awesome colours, scenery and action on a LCD/Plasma, please get hold of the Chinese movie "Hero" starring Jet Li among others and watch it. If possible on a Home theatre system as well. The audio and the movie is stunning to listen and watch to say the least. You will know how good your LCD/Plasma is if you watch that movie. :-)

Yes Panasonic brand shop has this movie and they put that on demo. It is wonderful.
On the other hand, what I felt was on LCD the colors look more bright, but less natural and on plasma colors look slightly dull, but very natural. On the LCD it is very evident that the colors are manipulated. it may be good for cartoon kind of stuff, but not for a movie with has lot of details underlying.
People here may have different perspective though.

Here are some more information.
Panasonic - ideas for life - Plasma vs LCD
Panasonic - LCD or Plasma

I know it is a tough decision to make. I anyway did not want a fullHD now, so went ahead with a value for money product. May be after 2-3 years I can consider a better fullHD (LCD/Plasma) as I spent less now.

Hero is made by Yimau Zhang who also directed "House of Flying Daggers". One movie I find has amazing colors and can truly test the limits of any LCD / Plasma. I wonder if anyone has watched "House of Flying Daggers" on a Panny and what they have to say about it. I have seen this on an LCD and that was one of those rather low end ones, which means I can have better visual experience if I can watch it on a good one.

PS: Now let's not take the war to Pio. Kuros are simply the best for who can afford it.
